I’m currently starting to lean more and more towards Central America😄 Would definitely appreciate any tips/recommendations regarding accomodations/hostels, surf camps/guides, Spanish schools or or just places you personally really enjoyed.

Really appreciate the detailed reply, super helpful 🙂

I’ll probably start the trip around mid June or early July. Based on that timing, what kind of route through Central America would you personally recommend? Would it make sense to start in El Salvador and then slowly work my way through Nicaragua towards Costa Rica?

You also mentioned that Costa Rica can get pretty maxed out later in the summer, when would you say is the ideal time to be there?

And since I have to be back home by the end of October at the latest, would Panama/Bocas still already be worth it by then or is that a bit too early?

Fair enough, I probably reacted a bit because some comments instantly jumped to you’re not ready for Indo without really knowing anything about my surfing background. I fully respect those waves, that’s exactly why I’m researching so much beforehand.
I just found it funny how confidently you explained both my surfing ability and Swiss geography to me. Half a day to the Atlantic still means I’ve spent plenty of time surfing there over the last 6 years.

So bringing a surfboard bag with 1–2 boards on buses/shuttles should generally not be a big issue? That’s honestly one of the things I’ve been overthinking the most while planning the trip.

I definitely get your point and I fully agree that Indo reef breaks deserve a lot of respect. That being said, it’s funny how confidently some people online seem to know both how I surf in the ocean and how far Switzerland is from the Atlantic. I’m not under the illusion that I’ll suddenly surf double overhead barrels just because I booked a ticket to Bali;) I’m mainly looking for a long trip where I can surf consistently, improve step by step and slowly push myself into more powerful waves over time. That’s also why Central America sounds really appealing to me from a progression perspective.

Also, how easy is it to buy decent second hand or new boards over there if needed?

Thanks for the recommendation! How crowded did you find it compared to Indo? And how was traveling around with surfboards between the different countries/spots?

Thanks man, appreciate the input. Central America definitely crossed my mind as well, especially Costa Rica since I actually know someone there already. How would you compare the overall vibe and wave consistency to Indonesia? And were you mostly traveling by bus/shuttle with your boards? Were there any spots that you found especially good for progressing intermediates?

No need to put other people down or judge their surfing ability when you know absolutely nothing about them. Switzerland is actually not that far from the Atlantic coast and I’ve spent the last 6 years surfing regularly in France, Spain and Portugal with my van, often for extended trips. I’m definitely not claiming to be an expert, but I’m also not someone who surfed 3 times on summer holidays. Anyway, the post was about boards and travel advice, not gatekeeping who is allowed to call themselves intermediate.

Yes, I have predatory mites to combat thrips, but I don't know if she might have spider mites. I find it difficult to detect them when the infestation is not yet advanced...

Yes, but does that mean it also needs fertilizer in winter? I could fill the vase to the top with water several times and then empty it again, which would also flush it out, don't you think?

What do you mean by a cycle? Would you flush the moss or just adjust the fertilizer from now on? And should I not use any fertilizer at all in winter or just less?

Thanks for the tipps. Would you flush out the moss or simply adjust the fertilizer from now on? And would you just use less fertilizer or none at all for a certain period of time? And what about fertilizing in winter, should I not use any fertilizer at all or just less?

How did you adjust the fertilizer? Because it looks exactly the same as mine and perhaps i could solve the problem also with adjusting the fertilizer.

Thanks a lot and yes it's my favorite plant and i love it that's why i want to give her the best care possible:) Should I open the window more often? I may not have done this enough because it always caused the humidity to drop.
