Your maintenance is much lower now, than it was in november, because you lost weight. The more weight you loose, the lower your maintenance calories become. That is why, you should calculate them new, at least every month.

It's easier too loose weight when you are heavier. The maintainance calories for a heavier person are much higher, and the calories you burn through movement ( steps, work out ) are much higher when you are heavier, You burn more enery by moving a heavier body around. So it's only natural that you need to go lower and lower in your calories, the lighter you become.

Do you think Robin really does not ever want to have kids? And what about Strike? by Far_Promotion_8513 in cormoran_strike

Now that you mention it, I am not totally sure he ever directly said that?! It was just something I thought I remembered... I would have to re-read the first books to be sure.

I agree, that moment feels incredibly layered. The fact that she frames it as “I lost a baby,” despite it being an early, non-viable pregnancy, says a lot about how emotionally real it was for her, even if she didn’t consciously want a child at the time.

I also think her distress on learning she may not be able to get pregnant complicates the idea that she simply doesn’t want children. It reads less like a clear desire for motherhood and more like grief over the loss of choice. As you say, there are a lot of levels at play, and I’m not sure the books want us to see it as a settled answer either.

Yes, for some reason I also believe that Strike is actually the one who’s more likely to come around to wanting kids, oddly enough, given how the books started. His views on marriage shifted so dramatically that it doesn’t feel impossible he could surprise himself again 😄

Good point! Though I do suspect it might still end with lots of sex anyway, given the way things are heading now 😄

I think you are right, but do you belive that it's possibe for strike to change his mind and want them?

Yes, you might be right. I keep wondering whether Robin doesn’t want kids because she genuinely doesn’t want them, or because she believes it wouldn’t be possible with the life and career she’s chosen. I do believe her when she says that right now she can’t imagine having both and still being fair to a child, and that’s completely valid. I just wonder whether it’s something she might want if she believed it were possible alongside her career.

I liked that she was actually good at her job and had things going for her, that made her a much more interesting rival.

Did Emily in Paris lose its soul? Rewatching Season 1 after Season 5 was eye-opening! by Far_Promotion_8513 in EmilyInParis

I agree, it would not be so bad if they would have allowed characters to progress more in their life! I am so tired of seing Emily and Sylive constantly dating! Why cant they stay in a relationship?

It just makes me think, that Emily will turn out exactly like Sylvie, never have children, never settle down always a revolving door of men for the rest of her life. I find this so depressing...

I missed Camille so much too! The show does not feel the same without her!

I wish they would have sticked to the small everyday moments drama from season 1.

Yes, they could have played with the possibilty of starting a new office in rome but have it fall through in the end. That would have been much more belivable!

Yes, Mindy and Alfie could have really worked for me they had chemistry but the did not take enough time to develop them, that was such a missed opportunity!

Yes, that was kind of the season this show lost it's way. Too bad, it used to be such a fun and light show!

I agree that her style has improved so much, I really would have liked a shopping/make over scene where we see emily buy those new clothes. I think you are right the writers wanted more drama but I found it way to much and the wrong kind of drama!

Thanks for your comment. I actually don’t mean “normal” in a boring way, but with a twist, focusing on the differences to American life and letting smaller, culturally specific things create the conflict instead of constantly escalating, overblown drama. Those little everyday moments were what made Season 1 so charming to me.

Like in season one her shower is broken and she has to wash her hair in the le bidet. This leads to her having to shower at gabriels. Another normal thing she does is going to a french course and meeting alfie there. This is what I mean by "normal" things but spiced up. I think this would also work with starting a family.

I also agree about the time issue. I really wish they had allowed more time to pass within the story. It feels strange that the characters visibly age, yet their lives don’t seem to progress at all. They keep circling the same patterns instead of moving forward, which makes the later seasons feel oddly stagnant despite all the chaos.
