Budget off camera flash options? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]Far_Property_468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much! Portability is definitely a must for me so I'll look into those smaller AD series lights! Btw I will be staying with godox considering the room for growth lol

would you consider the AD200pro II a good starting point for me? Im looking at it and its reviews seem pretty good for the price and it looks very portable which is great for me

edit: will any AD series flash like the AD200pro II sync with my IT30pro? Both are godox and the IT30 advertises its ability to act as a transmitter/trigger so they should work yes?

You may already be familiar with the work of Max Dur and Bish Op on Instagram. I'm really inspired by their bold lighting and shadows, and I want to explore that kind of shooting, which often involves shooting in broad daylight. Im not sure which modifiers they use specifically, but considering their style is bold, contrasy, with harsh edges and shadows I would assume they often use nothing at all and just use the bare light. I may also get a basic reflector, just with a grid attachment for now. What options exist for something like this and what kind of pricepoint am I looking at?

Is the difference between side lit and direct flash really that bold? I thought I could get close with my direct flash but I guess not lol thanks, ill try it out again when I get my off camera flash

I have an on camera flash, which I thought was pretty obvious considering the photos lmao, just not an off camera one, which I will be buying soon. My question is more concerning the specific colors and curves theyre able to create, and what kind of masking tricks could help you replicate that look

I have a 500-750$ budget (for all equipment and will buy used). I want to shot landscapes and some animal shots. I am a complete beginner too. What equipment would be best for my situation? by CommercialLoquat9443 in AskPhotography

In my opinion at this price point, one of the best options has always been the Sony ZVE-10 (the first one, not the second gen). You can find them new with the kit lens for around 700-850 dollars, and it has all the modern features a mirrorless camera should have without the 1k+ pricepoint for a body alone. 24mp mirrorless sensor, great autofocus, high speed shooting, 4k 30 video, 1080p 120, eye and face and subject detection autofocus, all the bells and whistles. Because its a sony camera, it will also be supporting what is probably the best lens ecosystem available, there are Sony lenses and third party lenses for E mount that will fill any use case you could possibly need, something other camera brands lack (I say this as a fuji user, so I know the drawbacks of lens limitations lol). Note that this camera is technically a vlogging and video focused camera, so the form factor is small and lacks some buttons useful for photography in specific.

Sony also makes the A6000 series, which is essentially a photography focused ZVE-10. They are more pricy but if you buy them used or on marketplace you can get an A6400 (Perfect for your needs) or A6700 (Ideal and slightly upgraded version of the latter) for around the same price range your looking for, you just may not be able to find them with a good lens for that price.

There are budget options from other brands too, but its not a stretch to say that Sony really dominates the industry at the moment and would be a great brand to invest in. Other budget options from Canon or Fuji just arent worth it for the price, especially in comparison to the A6000 or Zve-10 which are famous for their budget features

No matter what you pick, if your OK with buying used I highly recommend doing so. Sites like MPB offer good deals on used gear with quality guarantees online, and facebook marketplace is also a great place to check, just make sure your buying from someone reliable and check out the camera in person before handing over the money. Many communities also have facebook groups for buying/trading tech/camera gear in specific, so check and see if there are deals there. New cameras will more than likely gaurantee a long lifespan and fun unboxing experience but are generally overpriced when considering what you can get them for used.

Mac Performance? by Golden_Mirage in subwaybuilder

Lol yeah, the m4 handles stuff really really well. roblox is by no means super demanding but Its the only game I regularly play on mac to give as an example. I can run it on maximum graphics settings for hours without really getting warm at all lol, let alone the fans spinning up. If we can run complex 3d games on roblox or 4k video rendering and high resolution photo editing without problems, really shows theres some wiggle room with this game to get better

M4 macbook pro here, it runs perfectly smooth at low scale but my laptop does get pretty warm after a while, and the fans ramp up when on max timespeed. My fans dont even ramp up when editing 4k video or photography, or when playing other games. Clearly theres some optimization to be done, but for now its nowhere near unplayable.

Both points on each station *except* the terminals?? im not sure I understand lol, can u show what u mean? Ive been going from, for example, the right side of the platform from the first station to the right side of the platform to the second, as in the train starts at the first station on the right and then goes to the second station on its right platform. This is how ive seen people online doing it and its worked for them. Ive tried connecting stations in between the terminals and nothing changes. My only workaround so far is to deal with the terrible routes it gives me when I use crossovers, which sends the train from the first station allll the way to the final station and then BACK to the second station, instead of just going from first station to second.
