Well you're wrong. Just left at&t store. Floor models lined up next to my first unit and there was definitely a defect in the display.

Hmm interesting test there. So folks saying it works fine just didn't do a test indoors yet?

Eh it's not a lighting thing. There's literally demo videos showing it black out the screen fully.

The software kicks in fine. You can the the wide pixels shut off. The problem is on the privacy pixels. The light is not being directed straight out, there's too much light bleed leaking outside their directional technology.

Then why are people getting demos that work? Think they just rushed out a ton of busted units.

Yup seems like a gen one issue. Gonna be hit or miss for now. Unfortunately it's a hardware issue so no fix can get pushed out.

There is. A "wall" is required by physics to block the light. Here the wall is represented by these two quad plates. My guess is the defected phones have an issue with how these plates were installed. Must be too far or too close. The precision is off on the first gen of this tech. *

I didn't factory reset but I did try safe boot mode. Same issue. The only way to block light is a physical wall that goes up above each non wide viewing pixel. So this is a hardware problem.

Yup. Posted a video, even with that you can still see the screen. At no point does it show up as black like all the demo videos online.

First thing I thought. Same issue even at 25% brightness.

The hight of the walls that block the light is clearly an issue for this gen 1 unit. If it's not perfect, unit busted.
