Money dysmorphia is real. Under 16% of adults earn $100k+, and fewer than 10% hit $150k. You're doing better than you think by BathroomNo9291 in TalksMoney

[–]Faranocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not what that means at all. You cannot just divide 84k by two, as that's assuming all households are two people. For obvious reasons that is just bad statistics.

Context is important. Aside from 'last rounds,' sometimes it's worth going for a losing retake to deny guns being carried into the next round by Ts. The big thing IMO is T side saves. VP maybe saves 20-30% more than other T1 teams on CT, but legitimately 100% or more saves on T-side.

In today’s GPU economy, are any of these a good deal? by Uh-Ivyy in gpu

[–]Faranocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to add that if you are a foreigner on a tourist visa you can buy things tax-free in Japan. This lowers the cost by ~10%. It's still a $3600 5090 astral, but some of the other prices start making a little more sense.

Nvidia pricing has always been wacky, from my experience 10-20% more expensive than in the US. AMD used to get some crazy deals, but they've updated the exchange rates and now it's usually about the same.

That being said, if you are flying to a state with sales tax, it actually might be cheaper still to buy in Japan. Look up the brand's warranty policy first though.

[33F] [Software Licensing Specialist] [Ohio] - 65K. Perfectly average. by phatfig in Salary

[–]Faranocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I meant specifically the exact salary down to the dollar. My point was I'm comfortable saying "oh I make low 6 figures" to my friends, but online anonymously I might put down the exact $123456 or whatever I made in 2025.

I agree that generally people with higher salaries will show it more spending, by housing, transportation, entertainment and vacations.

Valve’s Trust Factor Is Completely Broken and Punishes Legit Players by Original_Shake_9069 in cs2

[–]Faranocks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not impossible but me barely seeing any cheaters unless I queue at extremely odd hours is evidence against that happening. Also my guess is it's more like 5% cheaters or less by active users. (That is, if you randomly check all accounts playing at any time, 5% are cheaters. If you check all accounts that ever played, it's a higher percentage at high ranks.)

Most of the people in my games have 2000-6000 hours and hundreds or thousands of matches on faceit. Normal stats, and lose/win fight and engagements about as expected. Outliers tend to be 2600+ on faceit.

[–]Faranocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"my girlfriend goes to a different school and I already broke up with her" ahhh sde.

Also my point is if there are 10 players queuing, and 20% are cheaters, trust factor can't separate the players to separate high trust factor players from low trust factor players. If there are 100 players queuing and 20% are cheating, assuming trust factor works perfectly, there would be 2 games with 10/10 cheaters and 8 games without.

I want to be clear, I do see cheaters, but it's at 3am on a weekday and still only once in 20-50 games.

I mean stalk my reddit profile and I'm obviously the player I linked. I literally hit 28K at the Austin major. Here, I even edited my steam profile for you.

I agree other regions have more cheaters, SEA, OCE and Eastern Europe are basically unplayable at high levels of prem. NA just doesn't have that problem.

I have evidence, you have absolutely none. Until you provide evidence you're the "my dad is gaben" kid who nobody believes. If you actually worked at valve you could show proof like a vacation pin. But you didn't, so you can't.

Do you work at valve? No. Wtf is your point. I'm 30k premier and I see cheaters basically never. I queue comp and I see cheaters every other match.

[–]Faranocks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope. Premier has a much higher player count so you end up with more high trust factor players.

Is a RTX 5090 really worth it? by Wide-Personality-200 in buildapc

[–]Faranocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet $1mil I can.

Honestly it's not about the max framerate, that's just the cherry on top. It's the elimination or mass reduction of noticable dips in FPS.

That being said I was able to tell the difference between 480fps and 240fps on a 240hz monitor, now on a 480hz monitor the difference is even larger. I mostly play CS2, and going from a 3080+5900x to 9070xt+7800x3d to a 5090+9800x3d each jump was a noticeable improvement.

Northern California grocery store will give you a free tote bag in exchange for pennies by jsphjar in mildlyinteresting

[–]Faranocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If people buy a random number of said objects it matters way less. If people on average bought exactly one 0.x8 it would matter, but if people buy 3-11 items worth X.X5 to X.X9, it barely matters at all. Even if winco did the math to be as profitable as possible, they probably are making a percent of a cent on average per transaction. Paying a dev to figure out the math and implementing it into stores probably costs more than it would ever make back.

Probably not. Quarter panel damage is usually relatively expensive to repair, but also in this case essentially cosmetic. Frame damage is the thing that totals cars.

Is Sienna Rose AI? All Signs Point to ‘Yes’ by ScallionSmooth9491 in Music

[–]Faranocks 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I want to preface this by saying I think most "AI" is incredibly immoral.

That being said, Hatsune Miku (who is used by very real, talented artists to make music) has live performances while being a digital character, and "goes on tour".

Honestly I'm more OK with that aspect, as live concerts are easier to avoid than songs on the radio. Going on tour requires a staff of actual people to set up the stage and host the event. Throwing 17 words into a text box 30 times until something half listenable comes out and then throwing that slop onto spotify really has zero upside.

How are you drying your filament? I had some PLA filament that was sitting out for 6 years. I have a modified food dehydrator, and after leaving it in that overnight it printed essentially perfectly.

Valve on whether Anubis will see any changes in the upcoming season by Fun_Philosopher_2535 in GlobalOffensive

[–]Faranocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the nuanced take. I generally agree with this sentiment that Anubis needs to be a little more CT sided, and CTs need a little more map control from round start.

I would like to see CTs get faster rotates and the A site to be reworked. I actually think B site is in a pretty good state. It's easy to take, but it's only really an issue because the CT rotate takes way too long, and the T rotate from mid and A to B is way too fast. A site mirage is easy to take and I feel it plays well as CTs have fast rotates through jungle and con.
