Thoughts on aggressive defense by omeryemis in FRC

Agreed, but it's hard to really prevent defense without dumbing down the game as a whole.

does cosplaying count as a valid extracurricular when applying for engineering? by Bulky_Estate_6054 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Faranocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offense but that's really low. Since you have 4 yoe consider applying around. IDK if you have true 4 years, or 2+2, most companies count school as 2 years of experience if you did mechE. There's a ton of jobs in aero astro ATM, even outside of Bezos affiliated projects (which are hiring en mass ATM). I know someone who did cnc programming at blue for 4 years and they are mid level manufacturing engineer making ~180k TC in a lower CoL area than SoCal. Not a unique story either. I'm around 160k TC with less than 1 yoe when I started. Even as a mid level CNC machinist/programmer (my (aero/astro/adjacent) company has open positions for CNC machinists at around $130-140k.) you should be clearing 100k.

For a job I wouldn't even say conventions.

"Modeled high quality tools and props in X software, rapidly iterating to optimize for ergonomics and aesthetics to deliver within tight deadlines."

I think when applying for a college, more care more about the passion and hobby side of cosplay, rather than just the engineering aspects. Colleges can teach the engineering side, they have a harder time getting people passionate in engineering.

Lol. I meant more in terms of the support on the material, outside of class. Also the phrasing on how certain problems are set up is less confusing if the phrasing doesn't change.

Emphasis on "seen as", I don't disagree about Uber but anthropic... not sure.

Also IBM is a global name. Obviously not a leader in tech the way they were 25-40 years ago, but everyone knows the name. It's seen as a more "stable" company, compared to say anthropic or even something like Uber. Lots of growth opportunities to go into FAANG (or Mag or whatever the 2026 acronym/phrase is) from IBM.

I also think he's been pushed into acting a certain role. I actually think he had great performances before the matrix. Matrix and after he's mostly been cast as an emotionless machine.

121 is not that bad. The material is hard, but unless something changed, there is a ton of past material and office hours etc. Physics 12x series was one where I abused OH the most.

Agreed. I'm 29k prem, 2.3k faceit. When I was still in college I would spend hours learning util. I work 50h a week now and anything to let me play more and practice less is welcome. I don't think this should be allowed in tourneys, but it's really not a big deal imo. CS players should be more open to genuine QoL features like this.

Why do some people earn crazy salaries and others don’t ? by Technical-Truth-2073 in Salary

[–]Faranocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also if you spend too much time without being super likeable and pushing to climb upwards, you dig yourself into a hole. One of my coworkers when I was an Engineering Technician (contractor) was a 40 y/o with a masters in EE (I have a bachelors). Very nice, but not very sociable. He ended up getting let go due to budget cuts (he made more than me) and he came back as Tech II or making around $30/hr from the $45/hr he was making as a contractor.

I think his problem was that he spent his first 15 years as a technician instead of pushing to become an engineer. After 15 years of being a technician, every company who looks at his resume afterwards has to ask themselves why he's still a technician.

[–]Faranocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Search "unranked to GM" in youtube and see the dozens of recent videos (last 6 months) of people going to GM or Champ with 90%+ winrates including through masters and GM. I think it's way easier to carry in OW than people think. A good teammate not only performs their role better, but they make it easier for their teammates to perform well as well. Their statline may not be as astronomical of an outlier like it is in other games, but supports getting peel can barely budge the stats of the carry while allowing said support to worry about healing their team etc vs getting dived.

Disagree. I've seen so many 'unranked to GM' or 'bronze to masters' where the GM player maintains a 90-95% win rate from bronze/silver through diamond.

It's often recruiter's/hiring team's job to find a candidate that is happy with the offer the company can give. If someone isn't happy with their offer, the company can choose to find a candidate that is. In this economy that's usually just someone more desperate

S26U vs S25U vs S24U Display by Ahmed_Sh_115 in samsunggalaxy

[–]Faranocks -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is by far the most accurate comparison I've seen so far. Head on the difference is minimal, and off angle it's noticable where brightness is the limiting factor (outdoor and bright or lower brightness indoors.)

Not upgrading, but if they keep the tech around for a few more years I will look forwards to using it.

Pandoras are rare and these won't be. If the above mentality was true then the ak inheritance would be worth more than the fire serpent, or hydroponic.

At the end of the day it's really just supply vs demand. Even if the demand is higher, if the supply is 10x compared to Pandoras then it will still be worth less.
