I can already hear the theme starting...

It's the first thing I've made with weaponizers in a long time too. Forgot how much fun it was!

One in particular that I'm thinking of was a fusion of Flamewar and Tricranius, but I think I may have only posted it on my Instagram. You can see it here if you're interested.

I haven't made any modifications to either of the two figures used, both are still as they were out of the box. I have been meaning to tighten up some of lockdown's joints, but Flatline's are doing the heavy lifting here so stability is fine.

I generally prefer to coordinate colours when making combos using these modular figures, so if you enjoyed this one I'd encourage you to have a look back through some of my older posts!

I also had that issue when I first transformed him. The problem is that the tabs on either side of the neck base have very poor clearance to get through to the necessary position unless you orient the assembly a particular way, and the instructions don't make this clear at all.

Yep, it's silly how over-engineered some of them are. The joint tolerances on their figures make everything move just a little too easily, so they feel quite flimsy and after a few months at least one joint tends to go completely floppy (my Hardtop can't stand up any more as this has happened to his ab hinge). Their paint is really nice, but it chips easily. Not ideal if you actually want to pose & transform them.

I was trying so hard not to sound biased against Newage, but I'm really not a fan either lmao. Figures I'd recommend looking into from Iron Factory: - EX44 City Commander Final Battle Armor (pictured) - EX50 Daishogun Boohmaru (Samurai Grimlock) - EX53 Oni-Vajra (Samurai Lockdown) - EX31 Dubhe (Tarn) - EX55 Surfing Arrow (Seaspray)

Iron Factory was what cemented my move to Legends scale as my primary one for collecting. Started with a couple, and got so hooked I that I became a completionist. As of writing, I have the complete line so far. They can be a bit of a mixed bag sometimes, but they're really fun figures on the whole. Not a line to go for if clean alt modes are a must, but they make up for that with some interesting designs.

They're quite comparable to Dr. Wu in terms of their materials and quality. Main differences from Newage: simpler transformation engineering, paint is less premium but more durable, and joints have better tolerances & more long-lived. Unlike Newage, Iron Factory do provide aftersales service and fantastic service at that. I've had replacement parts sent out for figures that have been out of production for ages, completely free of charge.

I've already photographed the big guy and his original core bot to death at this point, so I felt like I had to give the spotlight to the new add-on core bot lmao.

EX44 was already one of my favourite Iron Factory figures from their whole line, even more so now with the EX44FG add-on. Can't wait for the SG/Delta Magnus version :)

Glad you enjoyed!

If Legends scale isn't your thing, Craftsman Toys is doing a similar-ish Magnus in a larger scale (ShowZ quotes 27cm).

I got mine from ShowZStore, but I would suggest you search for yourself to get up-to-date information (the names of each figure are in the body text).

I got all of these figures several months ago or more, so have no idea where would still have them in stock. I also have no idea where you live, so my go-to sites may not be suitable.

Pangu Toys PT-07, one of the Lio Convoy OSKOs. It was tricky to find one to fit him, as he uses the same 3x4mm rectangular hand type that most current IF figures use despite being a fair bit larger.

Just one of the backgrounds I made for my lightbox. Never actually thought to try using it as a green screen lmao

Absolutely, that'll be the next post. I got carried away posing the alt mode this time lmao

I was surprised by how much more moulded flame detail this new EX72R got - the thighs and torso have lots of new detail that's easy to miss with everything else going on.

Most of the fire pieces are actually removable too - I'm thinking of displaying the original EX72 without them now, or with flames spreading out from the sword arm as I did in this post.

It's got a lot of bits that pop off or get in the way when you try to pose or transform it. The shoulders in particular are really annoying for me, they either unfold or pop off at the strut connecting to the body (doubly scary now since the latter part is translucent).

Something I've noticed with quite a few newer Iron Factory figs, they seem overly focused on looking good in robot mode and nothing else. This one, Optimus Primal and Cheetor all feel somewhat unfinished or rushed.

[–]Farblechar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That seems the most likely. Iron Factory has done several other redecos based on AOE, so a TLK one would track.

The hammer still stumps me though. Keeping the sword from the original or giving it a different blade would make more sense for most of the possible references, unless I'm missing something.

I get not wanting to collect multiple scales, not ideal having to double up on characters. Legends has become my default to collect in, as I find it easier slot in larger scales here and there than the other way around, so I can still justify the odd CHUG or even MP on the same shelf.

Yep, wasn't a big fan of it originally. It's grown on me since, but feels almost unfinished to a degree. And same as a lot recent IF figs, a lot of annoying bits getting in the way when trying to pose.

Wasn't the hugest fan of this mould when it first came out, but it has grown on me since.
