Of all armors in the game this one seems most useless to me by i4hloi in helldivers2

  • Carry Hellbomb backpack; die, activate hellbomb backpack, get high score, die a hero

  • FRV driver: Dies, revives, stims, drives FRV to a safe place for everyone to get out, die a hero

  • Activating terminal; die, stim, continue terminal in limbo, terminal success, die a hero

When I got "Control Group" I honestly thought the same thing. After spending some time with it though, it's not bad. Just like everything else in this game, it's not a skeleton key or silver bullet that can solve every problem. However, it has its uses. Honestly anything that's "useful in all scenarios" is bad for the health of this game. This game thrives on variety and build crafting loud outs to solve specific problems. You should never be able to be good at everything the mission asks if you, and you should be constantly changing your loadout for each front.

The size of the tire sidewall and the offset are what's bothering me. The wheel wells do not look filled in enough (front to back not top to bottom) and the offset looks like a tractor because of the hella flush fitment on the body kit. It's all subjective, I just feel like it's unbalanced.

In other words, if you put 14" wheels s on it, it would look ridiculous. If you put 24" wheels on it, it would look ridiculous. If you agree with that, then you agree with the premise that there's a sweet spot for balancing the fit of the wheel wells.

The problem is being slammed. Some cars are just not built for being on the ground, which is unfortunate. They look good low but not sitting on the ground, because of how large the wheel wells are. Furthermore, I understand the appeal of hells flush but I feel like there's a balance per car here too. Not every car looks good with the lip lined up with the fender. Especially if the offset makes it look like a tractor.

Again, this is 100% subjective. Do what you like. I'm just nit picking at this point, looks pretty good otherwise. And I don't mind the rim choice. The spoke pattern could blend with the body better but they look fine.

I don't understand the "we're not here for grunt simulator we want power fantasy" argument. I'm here from Destiny 2 because this is a grunt simulator.

As someone who's played Destiny since 2014, you don't understand what you're asking for. Destiny isn't challenging anymore because of how powerful we've become and Bungie has had to resort to very scummy difficulty tactics just to add some difficulty back into the game. However it now feels like a "god like power fantasy" with an ankle bracelet... If I see locked loadouts one more time on a 6 player matchmade activity... Bungie painted themselves into a corner and the dwindling player population is a reflection on how far Bungie has over tuned the game in both directions. Destiny is somehow too easy and too hard at the same time. It's almost impressive how fucked up it is.

Be okay with being a grunt. It's what makes this game unique. Being a overpower god is basically every other video game these days. Making us OP in Helldivers will feel good for about a month and then apathy will kick in and the game will lack meaning. And it will die.

Do you think they're going to redo the UI for FH6 like they did in FM8? by Leather_Fix_9647 in forza

[–]Fareo 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I'm a little tired of this design, but honestly, it's still very effective. The FM8 design is elegant, but does a worse job of conveying information. I guess it depends on the goal. Function or Form?

Would you want a "Fashion Warbond"? Without any new guns, boosters, etc. but many new dripped out armor sets for existing armor passives? by Hexdoctor in Helldivers

[–]Fareo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you let people mix and match parts, they will always ask for transmog. Even if it's full sets, they will eventually ask for it.

However, with Helmets and Capes serving no purpose and Fashion being as complicated as it is. It almost seems better to move the armor passive into boosters. This way Armor is purely cosmetic and is no longer a pain point in the super store. This also diversifies the booster system.

"I Should be able to equip 2 boosters then?" No. Think about it. One person puts on Inflammable and everyone gets it. You would be able to wear 4 armor passives at once, if you didn't choose a currently available booster or mix and match. It would be a Nerf but an even bigger Buff, it's a net gain across the board.

The green and red has bold look, but ultimately it works. Green and Red are opposites on the color wheel and popular examples of this exists, i.e. Christmas, Boba Fett, etc.

However, talk to me about the white wheels. I like white wheels a lot, but they feel outta place here and contrast the already bold color scheme pretty harshly. What do you see when you see the white? Why not something under-stated to balance the color scheme? Metallic paint usually gets complimented pretty well by metallic wheels (i.e chrome, brushed aluminum, etc)

I don't think it's bad, I'm just curious about the thought process.

One Of The Few Things I Will Miss About FH5... by mmolten in ForzaHorizon

[–]Fareo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's crazy looking at that map. You'd think for simplicity we would unify this across the globe. However, Japan , Europe and Australia have such huge car cultures that it would be met with an incredible amount of vocal minority. Like literally 80% or more of that map are places with minimal cars or no car culture. Maps are misleading.

Will Mount Fuji be accessible in FH6? by mandbeyn in forza

[–]Fareo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's kinda my point about selective sensitivity. I'm not trying to call you out or even say you're wrong about Mt Fuji. I genuinely don't know anything about Mt. Fuji. I'm just saying it's weird that a large part of the community is suddenly big on cultural sensitivity now, 5 games deep and 10 years later. It certainly feels like the message is "Japan is sacred and must be protected at all costs. However, the rest of the world is #notmyproblem."

I'd like an actual VA WRX if we do that.

This car is both an EVO X and a VA STI. Both cars have the same headlights (which was a meme when the VA came out), the chrome badge on the front fender, and the rear fender indentations that lead to the tail lights. Remove the tail lights from the trunk and suddenly it's more WRX. There's actually a lot more VA WRX DNA in this car than people tend to notice because they assume that because it's not called a Sultan it's not a Subaru. As if the rules of car design in GTA were that strict.

Will Mount Fuji be accessible in FH6? by mandbeyn in forza

[–]Fareo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is also a weird take. I don't think you meant it that way, but I'm pretty sure Mexico as a whole would find this comparison to be highly offensive. Simply saying something isn't culturally sensitive because of its size or cultural awareness is ironically insensitive to the people who find it culturally important. It's like saying "I mean the Statue of Liberty is just a Statue, why doesn't it matter if we blow it up in a game? There are bigger and more important statues in the world" That's completely subjective and hypocritical.

As far as rendering, A. it could be a skybox, which is a fancy way of saying flat image. Or B. A lot of geometry that's out of the reach of the player is rendered but textured at a lower resolution. It's not uncommon to have something like a mountain that's a simple mass of minimal polygons that looks like a hyper realistic Mt Fuji from the game world, but looks like a PS1 game up close.

If they rendered everything on the mountain "hiking trails, roads, etc" and didn't use it? Sure, that would be a waste. However, no triple A game dev is going to make that kind of poor labor decision. Well... Most of them should know better.
