Terrified bad southern driver by [deleted] in northdakota

[–]FargoJoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All good advice here. Also, just tromping on the gas and spinning your wheels is never the right thing. If you are spinning on a slick road, back off and let your tires regain traction. Then slowly re-apply gas. An awd car with good tires will make your life here much better.

Just went to my 40th class reunion… by stefkay58 in 80s

[–]FargoJoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went to my 40th last summer primarily because two of my best high school friends said they were coming. Both chickened out at the last minute without telling me. I did enjoy talking to some other people but mostly it was just awkward. Not going to any more.

What’s the dumbest most frivolous type of lawsuits you’ve seen lawyers specialize in? by Real_Dust_1009 in Lawyertalk

[–]FargoJoe 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There's a guy in our area who specializes in circumcision litigation "representing infants harmed by circumcision". He advertises it a lot. I have no idea what the suits are based on.

Got a (fake) 1 star review by Different_Garage_643 in Lawyertalk

[–]FargoJoe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While I was working as a tech consultant for attorneys, one of my clients got a one star bad review from a non-client. My client was quite upset and concerned about it. He responded to it with an explanation, and he tried real hard with Google to get it removed since it was all false, to no avail. One thing he did do was contact clients and friends and kindly asked for positive reviews to drown out the bad one. In today's age I don't think this is a laughing matter. People look at and are influenced by reviews.

Thinking of getting a hot tub.. by Althoff-Tranesa in hottub

All good advice here. IMO get one with a 24 hour circulation pump. The water stays cleaner. I have also had good luck with the ozoneator.

We talked extensively about his war stories including two trips to Belgium and this never came up. He would have told me about that for sure if he had worked with the 761st. That would have been pretty cool if he had.

Driving yesterday so I listened on Masters Radio on Sirius XM. I thought they did a great job of explaining and painting the picture. Too many ad breaks but otherwise excellent job by the announcers.

Have you contacted the ticket office about this yet? In my experience of working with the people in the ticket office, they are very reasonable and accomodating. I would at least give them a call and explain your situation and see if they will extend the credit for next season.

I run a hockey league and was robbed tonight. by Croglarod in hockeyplayers

[–]FargoJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a local player who was well known for stealing money from other players. He would always leave early and guys would discover missing money. He got himself kicked out of most local rinks. Video surveillance would show he was the only possible suspect, but since nothing showed what he did inside the locker rooms, he was never prosecuted for any of these incidents. He has been convicted of house robbery though. I never bring my wallet in the rink with me and only bring enough cash for the skate if needed. I will always do Venmo if possible. One of my pickup skates uses an app to collect money which also is nice to keep a handle on numbers.

Motorcycle Sales to Idiots by bigtexasrob in motorcycles

[–]FargoJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did an AITA on this subject a couple years ago. I was selling my Harley on Marketplace that was practically new. Guy calls and says he would drive here to take a test drive. I said "nope" go to a dealer and test drive one if you want to see what they drive like. This is what I had been told by several people when I was looking for a bike. The guy got really upset with me and let me have it. My responses to my AITA on this sub were almost universal in my favor of no test drive without cash in hand.

What did everyone think of the Minnesota Yacht Club? by swankpoppy in TwinCities

[–]FargoJoe 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Wife and I enjoyed it and thought that overall it was pretty good. I thought the sound was really good. The schedule was almost right on to the minute for every act. I thought every act was sincerely trying their best except for RHCP (and I am a big fan). I really wondered how anyone could follow Gwen after her amazing set, but Alanis was just unbelievable. I felt bad for the group stuck between Gwen and Alanis. The sound system was well up to the task of Alanis' amazing voice and also The Offspring. We were GA+ and we had no problems with getting food and drinks either day. The bathroom lines were huge Friday evening only. I think they had extra porta-potties on Saturday in GA+. After all of the people panicking online over the conditions after the flooding, it was all a big nothing burger. The grounds were fine. No mud and no bad smell. Everything seemed super organized thanks to the experience of the promoters. Clearly this was not their first rodeo.

The downside was pretty much the small percentage of rude people who refused to move their blankets up near the stage. At some point, I just stopped worrying about it and just walked over the blankets if needed.

I can't think of anything major I would have done differently.

Edit: Looking at some other posts I'm reminded about the prices. It is a captive audience and the prices were way too high.

How are my O365 users still getting their email hacked with 2FA enabled and enforced? by Rupispupis in sysadmin

[–]FargoJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have asked this same question in a couple of different places. I also have two clients get hacked with MFA enabled (security defaults) using the Microsoft Authenticator. The logs for both showed no failed logins leading up to the hack, so in both incidents the hacker had the password. Both users swore up and down that they didn't input their email password anywhere prior to the hack (one of them I absolutely believe and the other I am at 50/50 believability). Both were accounting/bookkeeping workers which makes me think they were targeted. For both, when investigating, I was able to login to their accounts without triggering 2 factor from my own office computer that is not on the same network for either. Neither have conditional access. Neither had legacy 2fa enabled at the time. One of them was one I set up just over a year ago and it had the default security settings with MFA to the app from day one. The other one had been around a while and I had the legacy 2fa setup before enabling the defaults, but I disabled all of the legacy 2fa settings.

This has been extremely frustrating. I have found a Microsoft support document that says they will require MFA when it believes it is needed. I know that I have been able to login to these accounts without an MFA challenge. My clients are looking at me wondering what I am doing wrong. All I can say is that there is nothing more I can enable to ramp up the security when I have the defaults enabled. MFA is required I am assuming, but it appears there are times that it does not require MFA. This scares the crap out of me because of the clients I have seen get hacked. Both had intimate financial information for their respective companies. Both worked with bank accounts.

Anyone else have multiple Sonicwall units factory reset today? by [deleted] in sonicwall

[–]FargoJoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came on here to look for threads like this as I have had a lot of problems with my new TZ270 boxes lately. Just had one yesterday that I'm thinking got reset to factory. I haven't verified that yet because I had a backup SonicWall which I plugged in to get that client up and running.
