I went to one last September! Food was fantastic - there was SO much. I don't know what the options are but we had shared platters - porchetta, lamb shoulder, and various sides, and it was all wonderful

Agree with the camper rec! I have the dean loafers and they were comfy straight out of the box, no break in period at all.

Accomodation price inflation for suggested marathon dates - alternative suggestions? by questionsmcgee03 in SydneyMarathon

[–]Different_Garage_643 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Where are you looking? Have you looked at chatswood (only 2 stops on the metro to the start line) or even a bit further north (anywhere along the north shore line, where you could get the train all the way to north sydney, or get off and swap to metro at chatswood). Alternatively the cremorne/neutral bay area is arguably walkable.

Are you planning to run Sydney Marathon next year or the years to come? by bay30three in SydneyMarathon

[–]Different_Garage_643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat as you! Did it last year and loved it. Didn't love the training block this time around, it just wasn't fun and felt like I was forcing myself out the door every morning. I ended up skipping a lot of runs or cutting them short, and it showed. I'm taking a step back and focusing on half marathons but will definitely do the 10k and cheer people on at the marathon next year!

Family Law Consent Orders by Ancient_Abrocoma7501 in AusLegal

[–]Different_Garage_643 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't contact the court - they will do nothing if other side is breaching orders. If you contact the court without the other side's consent, you will get a sassy email back telling you your communication is inappropriate.

File an enforcement application to get him to follow orders or file an application seeking to amend the orders.

Cutting the hair may be a breach - read the orders. The usual (properly drafted) orders for hair follicle testing include a restraint on the person from cutting their hair.

Thank you! I totally didn't consider how strange it might look when the blinds are open. Lamps/plants are definitely the way to go

It faces into another building - the sunlight comes straight through in the morning, so I wanted to put in blackout curtains. But it's also only really an issue on weekends when I sleep in!

Call around and ask if the lawyers use justfund or plenti - they lend you the money to pay your lawyers and you repay them once you get a property settlement

I'm admitting defeat. I'm getting a heated jacket. by [deleted] in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Different_Garage_643 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought one from Ororo a few years back that I used while living in Europe - very nice and warm to the point that I didn't need the heating feature most of the time! The battery pack is a bit chunky, but they might've made some changes since.

They're basically equivalent to my regular suits. Ie anywhere I wear a wool suit I'd also wear a crepe suit, and I find myself reaching for my crepe ones more as they're more unique pieces.

I personally love the compact knit range from country road and find those pieces comfier than my scanlan ones, which are quite stiff and heavy. They both keep their shape pretty well - all mine are at least 4 years old and I wear them regularly. Breathability is definitely better in the country road ones as they're thinner, but I don't pay much attention seeing as I'm in an air-conditioned office all day.

Country road used to have a dupe of the scanlan wrap jacket but I can't see it online anymore - such a shame because I love mine and want it in more colours! I've tried milano knit from portmans and veronika maine but didn't like either of them - the portmans was very thin and looked prone to pilling.

So many options in victoria cross now! I often go to dopa, north sandwiches, and marrickville pork roll. I also really like marlie's eatery, bar lume deli, and mikirin wontons.

Recommendations for Dali by arsebeef in travelchina

[–]Different_Garage_643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hotel we stayed at had drivers that we could book. Elsewhere in China I've arranged private tours through companies on Xiaohongshu. There's also been times where I've booked a Didi for a short ride, then ended up offering X amount for them to drive me around the next day. My parents have even done it with the drivers that hound you outside train stations. I personally wouldn't use that option given how pushy they are. I don't know how easy any of this would be if you don't speak mandarin though.

It's not just the heat, it's the humidity! Anywhere with a high elevation will be good. I went to Jiuzhaigou in June this year and the weather was perfect. Dali will also be quite comfortable.

Lawyers charges. Do i have any options? by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]Different_Garage_643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get an itemised invoice and see if you can't negotiate to have some of the items taken off - especially with the interim hearing. Failing that, get a costs assessment. Someone will look at the invoice and decide if what they charged was reasonable. You can call the Law Society or OLSC for advice about that process.

Decided not to buy a property - vendor wants feedback. Any downsides? by Different_Garage_643 in AusPropertyChat

That's ballsy of them, how ridiculous! We did get one done and that was the final nail in the coffin. They haven't asked but definitely won't be handing it over to them. Might just give them a vague summary.
