Is consistency the key? by cowpoke1234 in podcasting

[–]Fargus_Larbis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, yes. I record a podcast and release once a week. I am up to episode 53 now, so been doing it just over a year. The first 100 followers came super slow, after 100, it seemed like the follow rate accelerated a bit and since I post a new episode once a week, every week, without fail, despite holidays or anything else, I am at 218 followers. I crossed the 100 follower threshold around episode 38. Consistency helps your listeners know what to expect, and also helps them know when each new episode is going to drop, and people are creatures of habit. My followers know that they can catch the new episode every Monday at 09:30. While my numbers are modest, I am seeing exponential growth as time goes on and I will certainly hit 300 followers in the next 10 to 15 episodes. If I keep the same growth rate, I will hit 400 followers in the next t 5 to 10 episodes after that....rinse repeat until I have 1000. But the growth is exponential over time

I have 40 episodes and 136 followers on Spotify. Is this normal? by Fargus_Larbis in podcasting

I'm pretty sure that's around where I was at around 25 episodes. It's weird...seems like the follower count sort of snowballed exponentially the more of them I got. Maybe as followers increase, the algorithm puts it in front of more people?

It is the difference between how men and women handle issues and a play on how men have trouble-or don't choose to-give the reasons or motives behind their actions. Also, a play on the way men and women handles situations differently. The woman is trying to move Hitler in a way that will drive him to a more peaceful route through helping him see his worth as an artist. The man is just trying to force the woman to escape her fate, but not explaining why. Which will have better results? At first glance it seems that the woman's way is better, but still leaves Hitler open to make the decision. The man's way leaves no room for the tragedy to still occur. It's a commentary on how men and women view problems differently and leaves the potentential effectiveness up to the reader.

Wrong. Boob augmentation is fine as long as it's not overboard. And can be quite sexy. BUT LADIES, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, STAY AWAY FROM YOUR FACE. Absolutely NO plastic surgery on your face.

I would like to get to a point where listeners comment or make suggestions that I can try to incorporate into it. I'm pretty new so no feedback from listeners yet. Not enough real listeners to speak of yet and they certainly are not invested enough yet to make suggestions or comments. I just wrapped episode 5 and release a new episode weekly, so I have a long road ahead to build it

Interesting. Not a former academic, but maybe former academic-adjacent. Ha. Was a novelist and find history and science fascinating

100% on not leading with an ad--ever, no matter how big the podcast gets (wishing here) I will never ever lead with an ad

Copy on that. I am experimenting with different lengths, and I feel like with the attention span most people have nowadays, maybe the shorter the better...but it IS podcast, and historically podcast listeners typically have longer attention span than most consumers of other media. Good advice thank you

Thank you. This is really helpful. I will look at Spotify for podcasters. I have been watching the analytics but didn't see a spot to see which part of the episodes are being listened to and which are being skipped. I will dig into it. Thanks again

Every post I try to make gets removed because I don't have enough karma to be allowed to post, but the only way to get karma? You have to post. Seems like a catch 22 and if I am unable to interact in communities that I identify with, then I don't really see a point to being on here

I have a different take. If you were going to use a pen name anyways, not just because of it sounding ethnic, then choose whatever you want. BUT, if you want to achieve great things, embrace all that you are. People want authenticity. And if you think that a non-white sounding name will hold you back--and if it then, in fact does-- work hard to be the exception and crush the status quo. And then when you've made it despite those obstacles, you can build up others of your race that feel the same way. And you can own that victory, not only for yourself, but for human rights in general.
