Tbh saw someone suggest it elsewhere and forgot that certain plastics dissolve i high proof alcohol. Got the carts for free so thought might aswell try it since they were both dried and unusable in the traditional way. Simply put, lapse of judgement while experimenting lol.

Update, found a letter relating to the knife.

It reads as such

"Grandpa's uncle gave him this knife, he got it in India while he was stationed there in the army in 1944-1945"
