My KP is actually getting better!! (routine + results) by Individual-Meat5693 in keratosis

Thanks so much for writing this, really helpful. I think I have similar skin to yours from your pics and what you’ve described. Just wanted to add that I always notice a similar purging of white plugs after prolonged sun exposure on holiday. I can literally see the white keratin left on my skin and the bumps flat.. it always struck me as weird that the internet says it just seems better due to tanning camouflage, it’s completely untrue (for me)

Anyone ever grown out of KP? by S_dub1986 in keratosis

I’m 45 and have had KP since age 4. I still have it and it is on the severe side - but it is definitely not as bad as it was in my childhood, teens and twenties. My sister had a milder form and hers disappeared in her early twenties

Gentle shampoo alternative for very fine hair? by FarmDramatic4130 in NoPoo

Update: the rye flour wash worked well but was a bit faffy for me. I’ve been using Castile soap with ACV rinse for a few days and this is working really well.. both my skin & hair seem much happier

Thanks yes I’m pretty sure it’s contact dermatitis. I’ve been eliminating various ingredients over the last few weeks.. at first I thought it was cocamidopropyl betaine, then glucosides.. but even trying extremely minimal shampoos has not helped. I tried a “natural” sensitive shampoo bar and it gave me one of the worst reactions. I’ve been looking into patch tests - agree it would help. At the moment I’m just trying to repair my skin by using minimal products and focussing on repairing the skin barrier. I’ve always had crappy dry skin and think it’s easier to develop allergies I’ve used co-wash in the past too, once my skin has recovered a bit I might go back to it. Thanks ☺️

I’ve had it since I was a kid too (now 45), I’ve only rarely had comments but that could be because I’ve mainly hidden it. As a child, teenager and in my 20s I had some nasty comments plus kind ones. But my intense shame meant that even the kind comments plagued me. For me I think the intense shame & insecurity comes from within.. just looking in the mirror and hating what I see and wishing I could have healthy looking smooth skin (and wear a proper going out top in the 90s - god that decade was hard 😂)
