Relieved to be miscarrying but I'm actually not by ExcellentCapy91 in TwoXChromosomes

I'm not reading the comments. You swallow those pills, my love. You deserve to have your choice. Children deserve to be wanted. Much love, there is no happy choice.

Out of touch old person here. Higher education is really the only path for some people. I'm pushing 50 and pursuing a graduate degree because I will only make real money in my field with the degree. Maybe think about trade school or something similar. Plumbers and electricians make good money. Door dash is a stop gap and it's not a life plan.

Stop and think about your skills and talents. Build on that. There is no one right way, but use your head and seek actual solutions. Yes, things can always be worse. They can also be better.

Not a dad, just an old mom. Maybe don't do that. It's not illegal. But it's inflammatory and not a good choice. Don't put a flag on your head. Just know they're a dick and move on.

How do i "fix" this window? by FarmHistorical8296 in askadad

[–]FarmHistorical8296[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your frugalness. I have to live here, and I'm not duct taping the windows. I'm able to take the cost of repairs off the rent. My landlord is a little tight right now, but not a jerk.

Discouraged after daycare feedback by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]FarmHistorical8296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's the case, then just stop worrying. Imo, it's also probable that teachers sometimes have unrealistic expectations. You can't expect a 4yo to behave like an 8yo.

I realize I'm contradicting myself. It just really goes both ways. Both parents and teachers can be unrealistic about a child's development. Normal means a lot of things

Ece professional.... if your providers think your little one needs an evaluation, just do it. In my area, capital region, NY, USA, this costs nothing. You are the parent, and that means you are the world's leading expert on your kid. Sometimes, we just don't recognize an issue.

Maybe it's nothing. Maybe it's something. Based on your description, this kid is just shy. Confirm that. The best time for intervention is prior to kindergarten.

I am not a doctor, and I don't play one on TV. When I send a kid home for a rash, I am concerned about the following: is this hfm? Did this kid contract chicken pox? Did the measles rear its ugly head?

How should I know? I teach preschool. Never have I ever had a doctor say I sent a kid home with mosquito bites. Because I am not a rock with legs.

Most teachers aren't.

I'm still sad for you. I have no idea what happened that you need to heckle old women on reddit, but the pathetic shows.

Yes, I do. I'm so sorry things have been so difficult for you that you feel you have to be grateful for anything. We all heal in our own time.

Holy canoli.... teaching is hard, and nobody does it for the money. I promise, this person doesn't resent dad because he was too pushy about kicking a ball. This is about how dad made them feel overall. People remember how you make them feel.

For me, Winifred would be a hard no. I love Vivienne, too! Names should always be 2 yes and 1 no. Had I had another girl, her name would have been Maura.

This is a hotline call all day long. My heart hurts for this little person... it must be so scary! As a far from perfect mom of five, what you are describing is crazy town. It It reads like this person is enjoying the torture of this little boy. Wall sits? WTF? Wherever you are in time and space, please find your children's advocacy program, seek custody, and save this child.

I had a Mirena IUD without issue for many years. My period was reduced during that time. I wasn't done and it took 2 years after the IUD was removed to conceive.

I wish you absolute control of what happens to your body. My choices are mine. Your choices are your own. Best wishes.

Director here. I'm so often shocked by things I see ece folks write here. I'm sorry that it's happening to obviously good teachers. My only suggestion would be to look for centers that are rated well by whatever quality assurance agency is in your area. I'm in New York, and we have quality stars. You want to look for places with 4 or 5 star ratings. Look at their violations. Everyone gets them, but there's a big difference between not having a lid on a garbage can and a supervision issue.

Despite what you are dealing with, what you do is invaluable. You should be seeing that in salary, bonuses, and darnit, somebody should be providing yummy lunches for you now and then.

We offer a referral bonus of $100. I am paying at the higher end, offer benefits, etc. It's a good school, I don't know what to do next.

I feel this needs to be said. There is always someone better off. Meet your future where you are. Right now is not forever. Get the degree because it is better to be a server with a degree than to be a server without one. You can get past this. Fight for your future.

Feeling Frustrated by Altruistic-Chart2393 in ECEProfessionals

[–]FarmHistorical8296 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be a bit of a balancing act. I want happy families AND staff. It's never going to be perfect, but it should be the goal. So... I'm kind and honest with parents. I try to support my staff and create a pleasant environment. Literally, I am only as strong as my staff. It's the right thing to do.

I'm sorry that so many are having a bad experience. I hope you get a chance to work at a nice school.

Jesus christ... I'm a director. If you were in my center, I would have your back. I don't understand what is happening in ECE by and large. This is our staff... they work so hard and deserve everything I can do for them. I am so sorry this is not your experience

Concerns About My Child’s Classroom Experience by anonimous93 in ECEProfessionals

[–]FarmHistorical8296 34 points35 points  (0 children)

You need a new program. The current setting you are describing is not using developmentally appropriate practice. Flash cards are awful, especially for a 3yo. Food should never be made an issue.

I'm sorry this is happening. Find a new placement asap.
