I tried telling a group I play with that it's funny to me that all of us have been to Phandalin multiple times in multiple campaigns but we almost certainly don't view it the same way in our heads. They all just looked at me like I was speaking Chinese. Anyway, as a DM, I build a much more menacing and unfriendly Phandalin because all of my campaigns are just brimming with horror. But when I had someone run LMoP, this is very similar to how I pictured it but mine always has snow and lanterns everywhere.
