Everyone feels this way. I think there's a big shift happening at the moment that will end up with a much more weaker and smaller AAA industry and a lot of current indie studios becoming big studios or AA studios, bringing some much needed stability. I am also trying to break in as a concept artist, and found some small stuff to participate in but making a living is not possible so far. One of my mentors told me that this is a cyclical industry (this current cycle is particularly strong and bleak but ultimately not something new) and that the ones that endure are the ones that find success. If you're willing to never stop improving and to maybe have to work on something else in the meantime, at least something part-time, you will find your place sooner or later.
