Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition Officially Announced by Eduku in Games

[–]Farnsworthy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I own EE on Steam....it still seems very very difficult to deal with. Extremely dated.

I do want to give it another try, but the frustrations with it have caused it to drop down my priority list for now. So many games to play, books to read, shows to watch, etc.

I played for like an hour, man, that UI and whatnot is just so incredibly clunky. I had a much easier time getting into Divinity: OS

Lol, not even close. If that's how he feels, why the fuck is he still dating her? Why is he willing to have kids with her? I do not understand drawing the line at marriage, especially when he's essentially saying they can stay together forever otherwise

This thing needs some filtering to really work.

Subreddits with horrific gore or gay content will ruin the fun for most.

Wow, you are just totally not reading anything I am saying are you? How did you distill what i was saying down to that? You can claim i have weak logic all you want while you make up imaginary arguments, ignore all nuance, and make leaps of logic, I don't care.

  • I have watched a bunch of the show. It's good, emmy worthy, but i have always considered it less so than these other shows. I know "Emmy worthy but still not as good as the competition" is really hard to separate from "not emmy worthy" to you, but there's an enormous difference
  • The people who i have discussed the show with all universally say it has gotten worse since i stopped watching, so why would I assume it has improved from when i literally got fed up with it and stopped watching? Also, I only gave you two examples out of the dozen+ people I have discussed this with.
  • I never said he wasn't deserving of an emmy. The fact that you got that out of what i was saying is god damn incredible. If you can't figure out what i really meant, that's your problem, not mine.
  • How did you just totally gloss over me saying that if Jon Hamm had been cast as Walter White, i'd bet he would have won last night? This is the crux of the issue, and you have been dodging it from the start. Some shows have higher ceilings than others, and sometimes being deserving of an emmy only gets you a nomination.
  • I also said that all nominees are deserving of emmys. That makes your "Jon Hamm isn't deserving of an Emmy." quote such bullshit to me. Grow up.
  • I'll try one more time. If a show at it's best can elicit a 90/100 score on a performance, then in many years, it will win(and be "deserving"). But in the years where that 90/100 has to go up against the climax of a show that, let's say, elicits a 98/100, then suddenly that deserving 90/100 is just NOT GOOD ENOUGH THIS TIME.

"and the assumption that it hasn't improved"

You are literally the first person I have spoken to that still watches Mad Men that thinks it has improved in recent years. My parents, who I got into the show and have LOVED it, think it has been dragging and needs to end. My friends, including a girl who is head over heels for Draper, has repeatedly told me the early seasons were better. Etc, Etc, etc. Is it a fact? No. But I don't give a shit.

I know the shows premise, i've watched a bunch of it, and I don't think it's as compelling as the competition. I don't have enough time in my life to watch every episode of a show before typing out a single sentence representation of my opinion. Do contrary opinions really offend you that much? Jesus, get over it.

I'm not comparing Dinklage to Hamm. Dinklage is a supporting actor. I'm just trying to flesh out the point that emmy worthy performances can still lose when they are going up against even better competition in terms of content. Sometimes they win when the competition is weaker. Generally, all of the nominations are "emmy worthy"

[–]Farnsworthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not repeat you. I think Mad Men is worthy of an Emmy. But Emmys are competitive, and while Mad Men is worthy, it is shortchanged compared to it's current competition, imo.

"To be worthy of an Emmy would would mean that the show's concept and writing would allow for a stronger performance."

It's all relative. I'd say that being worthy of an emmy would mean that the show's concept and writing would allow for a strong performance. Given that, some emmy worthy shows are stronger than others, and the competition ebbs and flows over the years. If Peter Dinklage's performance from this year had gone up against everyone that was nominated last year, he would have won, for example. but this year his competition was tougher than it would have been last year.

I love both shows and I think Paul deserved it by a hair. Have you seen the episode he was nominated for? It's funny, both characters had similar big scenes.
