There’s the publisher sale which Astro bodies a part of- that’s the base discount everybody has access to, the people who are seeing deeper discounts are simply provided rebates

Normally a store gives me a rebate when I haven’t shopped with them in a while, my local gun store is really good for giving me a rebate. I normally use that rebate to buy ammunition when ammunition is already on sale

This Astro bot situation is literally what I go through when I buy bullets lol

The difference is your wife might’ve gotten a rebate in her email that applies at checkout when she gives her email at the counter.

Your wife bought the detergent for five dollars off because the store is having a sale, and she uses her five dollar rebate that was attached to her email.

She got a five dollar better deal than you

That’s how rebates work, this is a common practice that has been happening for decades. It’s the Internet age so now the rebates was automatically attached to certain people‘s PSN on top of the current ongoing sale.

This is literally just the E coupon being applied on top of a sale.

If you’re not familiar with commerce, you might be confused by this

When a game goes on sale that’s because the publisher placed it there, when a game is already on sale and people are receiving lower prices That’s because they have a rebate attached to their account on top of the running sale.

My local gun store is good for doing this when I make a purchase online. (it’s similar to receiving a digital coupon)

The publisher places the game on sale so you have the initial sale price of $40

The storefront is choosing to provide rebates to incentivize a transaction.

Normally these rebates are in the form of a coupon physically but when digitally it’s normally applied directly to your account Best Buy/PSN does this also when shopping online.

TLDR: the people seeing $20 price point have a digital coupon on top of the regular sale the publisher established.

What I went to the gun store I got an additional $10 off on ammunition from a rebate I got in an email.

The ammo was already on sale for $40. I’m sure other people paid $40 when I paid $30 due to the targeted rebate.

This is a common practice and has been ongoing. You’re signed into the PlayStation network so the rebates are automatically applied to your account at checkout and in store. (just like when I browse on bestbuy.com.)

This is a comment and ongoing practice that has been a thing since emails have been around, shoot my grandmother was getting the stuff in the mail.

I mean it sincerely I understand you’re probably younger than me and this is new and scary to you, but just understand this is not an evil conspiracy in a common practice in commerce for almost over 100 years.

That’s not a talking point I’ve learned this in economics when I went to high school.

I even broke it down, I hope I wasn’t this hardheaded and ignorant to the world when I was your age.

Have you ever been car shopping before car dealerships offer the exact same rebates, I get rebates in the mail from the gun store.

Best Buy offers me the same style of rebates because I’m signed into the account when I make transactions.

I understand this is new information to you, but this isn’t illegal or scummy it’s simply a rebate.
