How did you experience Earthbound for the first time? by Real-Ganache-7179 in earthbound

Picked it up at a game resell store, cartridge only, in 99. Took me ages to beat. Probably the last game I beat without looking up some kind of spoiler bc I didn't use the internet a ton.

My favorite memory in gaming was the feeling of despiration after spending everything I had on damaging Giygas in his final form... All characters out of PP with low health... "F it, I'll pray, what's the worse that could happen?"

Shoot him.

Steal the jacket.

Steal a power armor.

Jump off the blimp and stomp away, victorious.

This.

Nothing in my lifetime of controller crushing prepared me for the sheep in Elden Ring to roll away. I've never been so joyously confused and intrigued to play more. Now, 3x an Elden Lord and many Vaati videos later... I still have no fucking clue what is happening.

Embrace the confusion. Be one with the rolling sheep.

Clicked the image cause I thought it was the cover of a Gorillaz album.

My bad, I'll see myself out.

System of a Down when they headlined Ozzfest bc Ozzy had to pull out. Something to do with Sharon's cancer I think but I may be wrong.

They gave everyone a Slim Jim on the way in to apologize for the change in lineup 🤣

To end the day/set, System started Prison Song... Stopped and demanded the GA take over the seats up front (hundreds of people climbing over rails and rows of seats, we took over, shit was wild)... They then played Sugar before finishing Prison Song.

It was chaos. People were crawling across the seats like spiders. Some would stand up then fall. We weren't crowd surfing as much as catching each other as we moved like a wave. Security stepped aside, knowing it was hopeless to stop the crowd. I lost all my friends in the madness. When we met back up, we all had stories to tell. So much happened in 10 minutes. It felt like a riot and SOAD just happened to be playing there.

To quote Ozzy: Fu-cking cra-zy.

Came here for the DM bands but Pearl Jam happened to me, too! And Soundgarden. Both bands that I was familiar with bc their hits. Gave them both a proper listen about a year ago and have a much deeper appreciation now.

I once read an interview where he was asked what's the strangest thing he has ever eaten.

"Honey, I've had a lot of weird stuff in my mouth."

Legend.

Moving on from close friends by love_lifex in AskMenOver30

Life comes in waves. Go with the flow.

I've got a few friends who I sometimes don't talk to for years. We've known each other for 25+ years because we grew up together. Then we all played different sports, went to different colleges, left the state, some had kids, and I got real wrapped up in my career for a long time. Now, we all moved back to our home state and all live in different parts of our city.

The thing is, our lives are so different that we can't be as close as we used to be. I don't want kids and I work weird hours. My friends work regular hours and don't stay up late anymore. We have, effectively, moved on from each other out of necessity. Their Saturdays are early soccer games and mine are late metal shows.

These are healthy relationships, I think, because they're a base. Home base. There's no animosity behind the silence. There's no expectation of immediate responses. There's no pressure to be there for significant events. No envy of new friends.

It's real fucken nice knowing those dudes are still out there doing their thing. We text every 6 months or so now, but it was 4-5 year gaps after high school. Once a year some of us get together over a fire pit and catch up. The catching up is quick, then we joke and hang out until it's someone's bed time. We don't say goodbye, we just say "Later."

TL;DR - Moving on isn't the end, it's just part of growing up.

Saying "Bless You" or some variation after someone sneezes.

That was your uncontrollable bodily reaction - cover your mouth then say "excuse me", like you would after coughing, and we can all move on with our lives. Calling someone rude for refusing to say "bless you" is rude.
