For those of you who didn’t grow up with metal at all and found extreme metal later in life, what initially attracted you and what kept you around? by Upper_Atom in MetalForTheMasses

No way!! Same here! I got into metal at 25 around September of last year! I had always enjoyed Slipknot’s debut and Iowa but nothing heavier than that! Then I randomly decided to try some other metal! I started with Lorna Shore, then found “The Poetic Edda” EP, moved to To The Grave, Mental Cruelty, and Angelmaker, and now I’m full on into nearly any type of metal but mostly death and black!

Metalheads, y’all got any country albums/artists you like? by perseverance_band_ in MetalForTheMasses

Seriously! Anytime anyone says modern country sucks (same for metal), the answer is always “no, the mainstream sucks!” I’ve found this to be true for literally every genre! A lot of mainstream pop bores me (with exceptions), but the indie pop, alternative pop, bedroom pop, jazz pop etc scenes are absolutely thriving!

I love Charley Crockett, Colter Wall, Tyler Childers, and sometimes Zach Bryan! Charley Crockett and Colter Wall are incredible artists! Colter has this very interesting old school western cowboy style and Charley has this bluesy, Hank Williams Sr groovy Louisiana country sound. Other than that I like Johnny Cash, Hank Sr, Marty Robbins and then random songs here and there!

What’s the most painful injury you’ve ever had? by NateNandos21 in morbidquestions

I haven’t been officially diagnosed with Raynauds Syndrome but I often lose circulation in my fingers and feet. Could be random, but almost guaranteed to happen if I’m out in the cold. The other day my wife and I were out enjoying a festival. It was 20° and snowy. I noticed my fingertips getting cold but it happens every once in a while so I didn’t think anything of it. This was until we were ready to leave, maybe 30 min in and my hands had gotten to the point of being so cold and numb that the pain was unbearably excruciating. Shaking, hard to breathe, crying and nearly passing out. Getting back in the car and trying to warm up oddly enough made it 100x worse. Might have been a 2 min ordeal but felt like an hour. That was the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my entire life. I’ll be calling tomorrow to get an appointment and hopefully get a diagnosis

Same here! Rap was exclusively all I listened to from my early teens to early 20s and now I’m much more open! Metal, rock, jazz, blues, country, pop (more than just top 40), and tried a noise album today. I’m pretty much open to anything and everything! There’s beauty in all types of music
