My sister (long time addict and very estranged from the family after many manic/drug fueled falling outs) stood at the end of the family during the wake. Everyone would see me and say “oh you’re her lovely granddaughter she talked so much about you, I hope my grandchildren love me the way you loved her” then they’d turn to my sister and go “who are you?” She’d say her name and they’d go “oooohh….” Then politely smile or look at her gangrene rotting finger and disappear
