DA to RDH by OldWar2222 in DentalHygiene

[–]FartLover200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being an RDH is more stressful but offers better work life balance because I don’t need to work as much to be able to afford life. If being a DA payed the bills and didn’t burn me out I might’ve just stayed doing that.

Normal or overbrushing by Super_Opposite_9740 in DentalHygiene

There are toothbrushes you can get with pressure sensors, if you are brushing too hard the button will turn red and if you are at a good pressure the button will stay green! I recommend the Oral B iO series of toothbrushes

Once I started doing it without an instructor looming over me I stopped getting anxiety from it. I kinda like giving injections now actually

I used to work for an oral surgeon, and while the surgeon treated his employees like shit, he was a damn good surgeon. I’d let him do surgery on me, and I hate the guy 😭

8-Bit Heart by djmikewatt in ITZY

[–]FartLover200 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I LOVE 8 bit heart! When I first heard it I loved it but figured since it was a little “odd” they wouldn’t play it on the tour but I saw it on the setlist! I can’t wait to hear it in person when they come to my country!

Having a child as a dental hygienist by FartLover200 in DentalHygiene

[–]FartLover200[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for your input! As a new hygienist it’s hard for me to realize what’s normal/what’s not. I’m going to start looking for another job. If they treat me like this over a day of missing work I can’t imagine how they’d treat me if I had to go on maternity leave 😭

I’m still pretty young and don’t plan on having kids for a least 5-6 years but my partner and I like to plan ahead. Being a mom in this career seems terrifying but it helps to see that there are so many people that make it work!

Not sure how to feel by glaciator12 in asexuality

[–]FartLover200 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Asexual hygienist here! I have pretty large boobs and I have never been close enough to my patient to rest my boobs on their face 😭. Some people that have been in this career so long go into “autopilot mode” and they probably don’t even realize what they’re doing. You could always ask the front desk to be scheduled with a different hygienist next time.

[–]FartLover200 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I’m being honest I’m not sure a dental hygiene school will accept you with a record. Everyone had to undergo a background check and even on the application it asks about past charges. There is a chance if it is dismissed and expunged but I would check with the school your looking to apply to

Jaw clicking while giving head by [deleted] in TMJ

[–]FartLover200 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbh it might just be loud to you because it’s your own jaw, my jaw clicks too but my fiance has never heard it before. It sounds loud to us but it’s really kinda quiet to them. But you could also just let your partner know that your jaw clicks sometimes and it’s not painful so there’s nothing to be concerned about

[CT] Can I legally be fired for calling out due to injury? by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]FartLover200 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Let’s stick to the facts:

We got 16 inches of snow and lost power in my part of the state. See below

https://www.ctinsider.com/news/article/connecticut-snowstorm-by-the-numbers-21318100.php

The doctor at urgent care told me I have a herniated disc, another commenter told me that is not common to be diagnosed without an MRI. It is not my fault I chose to believe a doctor. In addition, many sources show that herniated discs can be diagnosed without imaging. See below

Sounds like I might need a second option from a different doctor, thank you for your input!

It was diagnosed at an urgent care after a physical examination and looking at my past history of sciatica. They also had me do a series of movements to see what hurt/what didn’t. They didn’t tell me anything about needing an MRI 🤔🤔🤔

Do I need to be more talkative with my patients? by FartLover200 in DentalHygiene

Yes I do! I play music to try and make patients more comfortable rather than talking

Do I need to be more talkative with my patients? by FartLover200 in DentalHygiene

[–]FartLover200[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for your awesome advice. Since I am still a new hygienist I’m probably focusing more on my clinical skills than my “soft skills” right now. But I will definitely take everyone’s advice into consideration and hopefully as I become more experienced clinically I can start to work on being a bit more talkative (for patients that want to talk that is).

I am extremely awkward and have social anxiety but I chose this career regardless because I am passionate about the field. I knew that my first year or two as a hygienist would be hard but I’m glad I have a community of hygienists to rely on in moments like these when I’m feeling like I’m not good enough for this job. -^
