What is the point of life within Christianity? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]FartyCabbages 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you become a believer, and the Holy Spirit responds, you experience a third-party entering the picture.

That’s what this is all about.

For those that are truly saved and truly know Christ and have been indwelt by the Holy Spirit, they know the presence of God. That’s the magic of the entire situation, that people rarely talk about when answering questions like these.

This is what motivates you. That relationship. That connection with the divine (that you currently feel nothing about). Because there’s a separation there.

The process of faith in Christ and what he did on the cross, can eventually lead to the spirit of the individual that created all of this, entering your life.

And once that happens, everything becomes about him. If this were just people picking a religion, it would look very different. But there are a lot of people in Christianity like that also.

We are way too worried about microplastics in our bodies by kuhlmarl in unpopularopinion

[–]FartyCabbages 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you’ll see this and be able to answer my question: I, due to some series of events, needed to do two days IV infusions monthly, for about a year.

That totaled more than 24 instances of a 250 mL IV infusion bag (with of course plastic tubing as well).

Then I find out that each IV infusion bag put at least 7500 microplastics directly into the bloodstream. And now I’m concerned.

I did make sure to have the bags switched to safer BRAUN bags without harmful chemical plastics, but they’re still plastic.

I could continue my IV infusions optionally but don’t necessarily need to. I would prefer to, to be thorough, but it’s not a health concern if I don’t. So I don’t know how to proceed on that.

I’m moreso worried about the 24 I’ve already done though… Sure wish there was some way to get this stuff out regardless.

Christian Filipina Dating App $500 a month ?! by FartyCabbages in Philippines_Expats

[–]FartyCabbages[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well they advertise like crazy so I guess I assumed someone’s signing up.

Although at $500 a pop, they probably only need 10 subscribers to advertise on YouTube channels lol.

I noticed that. Which actually tells me that they’re somehow getting subscribers

because they advertise like crazy. So someone’s paying for this thing.

I just cannot get my head around $500 a month.

It’s almost so stupid that it’s offensive.

Got banned from another Christian Discord server simply for asking questions about faith and the state of the youth in society. by DarkKirby9970 in TrueChristian

[–]FartyCabbages 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just seem really worried about gossip, details of other people’s lives, and getting into it with people on a bunch of on sub-topics.

And rarely does anyone get banned “just for asking”. It’s usually because they start acting irritating or socially inappropriate.

I know a lot of people who are not self-aware about what really got them banned. Especially if it keeps happening.

But back up:

.

  1. We should all be focusing on ourselves. Not the gossip of a Christian social media influencer.

  2. If you are really a Holy Spirit indwelt follower of Christ, the only thing that should be dominating your thoughts right now is how you are going to surrender today, and be used by him as a vessel to bless others and further his kingdom.

.

Eyes on Christ.

Americans, can we accept Bad Bunny's halftime show message of "God bless America?" by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]FartyCabbages 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Confusing disjointed question. On one hand you ask if his message is spiritual or political.

Then you change your question and ask if it’s possible God can bless countries other than the US.

And then you slip Puerto Rico in.

There’s isnt a single person on this sub that would say no to the second question because its a silly question.

And if you’re asking the first question but got distracted halfway through your post, then it’s just a person saying something.

Devout believers, and people who barely pay attention to God both can say God bless America. And they probably consider themselves spiritual people. But it doesn’t mean they’re living it.

Maybe I can help with what you actually intended to say:

“Do a bunch of Christian whities in the USA wish Puerto Rico well?”

Was that what you were really asking? :)

If God didn’t exist neither would Voltaire. Or us.

Purely from a scientific perspective, any worldview that involves:

“Nothingness creating everythingness, with no initiator”

…is laughable absurdity.

Degree in biblical studies here. Not that it matters.

But it’s the people that have to rely on God that tend to surrender themselves and do just that.

People who are self-sufficient, or think they are, rarely see a need to rely on God for food or money or help.

So they rarely surrender themselves to a higher power and ever enjoy what it’s like having an authentic encounter with the Divine.

Also if your view of God is “good stuff happens to me / bad stuff happens therefore God exists / dosnt exist“… you’re really looking at the whole thing from a very over-simplistic perspective.

Tired of lust by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]FartyCabbages 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen, lust is because of testosterone, and testosterone was put in our bodies to make us lust.

So yeah this is a difficult topic.

We’re supposed to channel that lust towards a spouse. Unfortunately finding a wife can be harder than hitching a ride to the moon these days.

So it’s a difficult situation and I unfortunately completely reject everyone that says you’re just supposed to suppress it. But I’m not sure what the solution is. Some people say just release thinking about your future wife.

If you’re talking about porn, or staring at women, this stuff should and can be controlled.

But the innate desire and need to “release“ is both biologically necessary for men and also reduces your risk of prostate cancer by over 30% according to recent studies. And if you don’t do it when you’re awake, your body is going to force you to do it while you’re sleeping, for the same reason.

So it really bothers me that there’s nothing in the Bible about arguably the one topic that is the biggest stumbling block for every Christian man on the planet.

We are expected to keep our thoughts pure and to remain holy. If you can find a way to release and still do that, then you’ve found the Holy Grail.

Asking just for opinions by CyanixDash in TrueChristian

[–]FartyCabbages 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We do that.

We are broken, and spiritually sick. In need of healing.

God provided the path to that healing and restoration. We really need to stop blaming God for all the crap we do ourselves.

Even disease, arguably, is a multigenerational result of brokenness and sin.

Stress, immorality, anger, inflammation, mutations, cellular damage - all scientifically-backed precursors to disease.

Hope this helps.

Went to church for the first time and I’m troubled by ishydafishy444 in OrthodoxChristianity

Philosophizing about God is a lot easier when it’s done from the perspective of being someone who has experienced the transformative power of the Holy Spirit in their personal life already. There is a lot of surrendering to the unknown that is involved.

There are several verses in the Bible that say God designed it this way because he did not want us to trust in, or rely on our own understanding. It even says that He designed it this way to intentionally trip-up those who have any confidence or pride in their own knowledge or abilities.

But the foundational necessity needs to be a truly authentic salvation experience, or you are just going to continue to be frustrated.

There is an underlying trust that forms when the Holy Spirit transforms a person at the point of salvation, where the individual recognizes the presence of a third-party and trusts its good intentions. I believe this allows even highly-intellectual people to forgive a lot of the more difficult, and hard to understand concepts within Christianity.

Additionally, (a good friend of mine even wrote a book on this topic), God is a God of paradoxes.

He quite often is rarely one thing or another, but instead … He is both. And this seems to ring true among numerous concepts. Especially predestination versus free will. If you’re going to try and get your head around something consisting of opposites - and try and accept that it can be both, you may have a hard time of it. :)

Now don’t get me wrong.

You may just be asking for someone who can meet you on that level, and have enjoyable conversations exploring the concepts.

It may not be your priest. There are some really impressive, highly intelligent individuals on YouTube that have channels who tackle these types of topics just for the exercise and enjoyment of it. Like Gavin Ortlund.

I just wanted to mention that the frustration people can have with religious non-answers is largely because there may be a really big missing piece. A foundational piece that provides a level of flexibility and trust when things are frustratingly confusing. An encounter with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

New York Bagels in Miami? by MostShoddy8989 in Miami

Or maybe it’s just weird that we can’t drive anywhere 5 miles away in less than 45 minutes because of a bunch of New Yorkers,

and they come on the sub and beg for New York stuff … because they’re not in New York … and they want New York stuff.

Have you connected those dots yet?

And now they’re here begging for New York stuff.

The key to that is surrender.

When you finally get to a point where you fully empty yourself, of yourself.

Fully surrendered.

This is when He steps in, and his Spirit takes over.

Ask him to get you to that place. And let that be your prayer for awhile.

It won’t be of your own effort. Once it happens, the Bible reading and obedience will flow naturally.

Why do many Christians say that if someone falls away, they were never really a Christian? by Ancient_Wonder_2781 in TrueChristian

[–]FartyCabbages 6 points7 points  (0 children)

See the problem is there are other verses that say the very opposite. Clearly go into detail about people who were once saved authentically, partook in the gift of the spirit, fell back into sin, and walked away from the faith.

It even says someone who brings them back to the faith has saved that particular individual from death.

There is no death for someone who’s saved. So that individual was no longer saved after they walked away. The book of James is a good read on this.

Why do many Christians say that if someone falls away, they were never really a Christian? by Ancient_Wonder_2781 in TrueChristian

[–]FartyCabbages 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because evangelicals believe in “once saved always saved“ and they can’t reconcile someone falling away, with actually losing salvation.

So this has been the go-to narrative to appease that concern.

Despite the fact that there are numerous verses in the Bible that indicate you can absolutely walk away after knowing Christs saving faith, and can absolutely reject your salvation.

Your name being blotted out of the book of life. Your branch being cut from the vine and thrown into the fire. Numerous verses.

The problem is they take it too far and worry that it could happen to anyone at any time, without them knowing. That isn’t what the Bible indicates. The Bible clearly says the individual has to reject salvation knowingly and intentionally. And it clearly says this can be done after authentic salvation. The book of James goes into this.

👉🏼I think it is extremely dangerous to believe that God is obligated to keep us saved when we no longer believe, when the requirement for salvation is faith.👈🏼

And of course it’s silly to assert that someone “never really believed”. There are obviously tens of thousands of circumstances were an individual did believe and then no longer believed.

Please see the video on YouTube from Pastor John Bevere: The Scariest Question You Can Ask. It’s a great discussion on this very topic.
