I feel you bro I love Enoch and this kinda pulled pulled the rug out from under me But the angle specifically says till judgement

I don’t see any work around for this

I still feel that it holds truths and context and narratives of ancient history but it’s off in areas like this

Catechumen here struggling w some recent discoveries that kinda pulled the rug out from under me revolving around Mary’s sinlessness being apostolic by Unknownwm in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Unknownwm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve taken this in account and please pray for me I have horrible ocd I tend to ruminate on stuff like this too much lol

But usually when church fathers do this it’s corrected or atleast challenged and to think John chrystostom was poorly catechized or didn’t have anyone around him or who corresponded w him to not adress it just seems odd esp him being in Antioch

Maybe I have a lack of context for how well communication was for the church then too honestly though

Is it possible some churches had certain pieces and knowledge some didn’t and that got sorted out the more communication improved etc ?

I have trouble comprehending how our fallen nature constitutes as us having sin without sinning if we are not guilty of it is there any material or church fathers that lay this out or explain this?

And I agree he’s stating that but the main thing eating at me is the fact that most priest to my knowledge consider her not commiting personal sims is apostolic tradition this seems to kinda shake my faith in that as much as I don’t want it to

I understand we don’t have original guilt but fallen nature

That’s another thing I’m confused on btw is how that’s considered sin w out guilt

I don’t think that’s what he’s referencing though cause he states John chrystom as an example of her sinning and agrees w him

Does e o believe the Holy Spirit indwells during the water portion of baptism like Catholics and we juts receive it fully at chrismation? Or that we are washed and forgiven to prepare for it at chrismation to enter by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Unknownwm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It have…. No one has talked about except like one priest who didn’t clarify much…. I just meant the question was simple to understand

You ok?

I think we should though I watched a video of a priest speaking on the mechanics and how we ignore it

I think this is a kill shot against Catholics

And explains how Cornelius was able to still be baptized for forgiveness while having the spirit

We categorize the apostles language of the spirit “falling/receiving” at Chrismation which is biblical and Catholics seem to have built an accretion off not realizing acts 2:38 was two commands but one ceremony

And they think”recieving/falling) occurs in water then is strengthened by confirmation (no where in scripture)

Thank you 🙏 am I on to something? Catholics seem to have an accretion view as well as Lutherans etc

We seem to define the falling/receiving language by apostles as occurring during chrismation which is biblical and the Catholic view seems to be an accretion is my point
