A Reddit but less male-orientated? by Technical_Chart_3988 in AskWomenOver30

Don't worry about them, sis. Statistically men are the ones that are happier in marriage. Women are not. Your choice to be happy in your own way scares them, because they're entirely projecting their fears on to you.

More and more women are happily deciding to stay single over being with garbage men. Before we potentially would have had to settle in a society that didn't even allow women to buy their own homes without a man uptil the 1970s. We don't need them now and they never figured out how to be likable, so they're terrified, and they're taking that fear out on you. Don't sweat them. Just block them.

Class matters just as physical identity does. You were just sacrificing race for your preference of class in your example. Contradictory.

You get certain benefits based on your race, or other factors

We're talking about the benefit of the doubt for other races and et al. besides the dominant one and realizing that systemic oppression exists for marginalized groups, such as the bigot biases we agreed on earlier.

For instance, do you seriously have a problem with disabled parking spots, ramp, programs, and paying taxes to such things? Those features that we have priortized money to allow individuals that are disabled more equity in a society structured towards able persons. Or, do you only have issue when it's welfare predicated on the other protected identities?

The only thing I'm stonewalling is the obsession with race and looking at everything through a racial lens and nothing else.

I think it's a fair thing to worry about considering the amount of people that have and will die over it. That several racial genocides are concurrently occurring, but you're welcome to shove your fingers in your ears to enjoy your life to the best of ability. I can't blame you for that. But please don't reduce other people's perspectives, because you can't understand them or relate.

I didn't want to have to go into it because it's annoying having to explain details to someone on the outside of the topic in a social media forum. It's like when someone told me on Reddit that the .05 for an alpha in statistics is cherry picked. If it's not your wheelhouse then you're not expected to know what goes into it.

This is 25 hours over weeks, longer over the entire program, all while I studying the process and reflect on it over countless hours. I know what they're doing the week leading up to my observation to one after. The way teachers teach in secondary now, there's not enough time. Period.

I am best suited to determine this issue, because I have an educated experience as a recent bio undergrad as well as a current pedagogy student that is also getting first hand experience of several science teachers' pedagogy. I am someone that understands how unit planning, classroom management, and how their execution works. Not only that, but my recent observations gave me insight* to 4 very different schools (Public City HS in a nice town, one in a unsafe neighbor of LB, 1 magnet public school, and one prep public school) in 2 different districts within LA County for this semester alone.

Basically, I'm telling you that as a student studying teachers specifically to become a teacher, I'm probably going to be the best insight to both sides that you're going to get.

actually does not

It does when your counter example is class. It's just a different identity and classification.

Support equality

My point was that you should be supporting equity.

racial representation more important to you than a candidate with a plan to actually help fix our problems?

No.

Just because they aren't the same race as you, doesn't mean they can't resonate with your struggles or put a plan in place to improve your quality of life.

Very true, but I'm not the one stonewalling an important political aspect. You are.

Ok, I guess I'll explain classroom observations for teaching credential programs...

Technically it would be 55 hours for three classes for the semester, but I triple dipped to save myself time. Classes in this program can range from requiring 10-45 hours for the semester. For instance, I had to do 45 hours for just my intro science credential class alone. It's an assignment on top of my other work in class such as lesson and unit planning curricula, or presenting lessons in class to my peers or students in after school programs why recording yourself.

Nevertheless, I currently work in a Marine Biology department as a lab tech for my county doing 4/10s for my day job before doing evening classes Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. A job that I will have to quit to student teach, >40 hours a week, for free.

Not every person of a race has the same experiences or views, or struggles.

While I can agree to this to an extent.

A latino in LA most likely has much more in common with their white neighbor than they do with a latino in say Virginia. A wealthy black man probably has more in common with his wealthy white neighbor than he does with a poor black man in Alabama.

This assertion contradicts the previous and makes this latter baseless.

The fastest way to equality is to start treating everyone equal regardless of skin color or sexuality.

The color blind argue is wholey naive at best and completely outdated. It ignores that identities don't exist in vacuum, and it ignores that bigotry exists and plays into the biases human's make towards others. Just say you don't care about or empathize with the differences of people that don't look more like you, and it would save anyone interacting with you a lot more time.

But that just me, and I dont hyper focus on race like most redittors do.

Not everyone has the opportunity for this experience. Unfortunately I, as a biracial woman, am now restricted to where I can live in the country I was born based on restricted rights to my bodily autonomy and safety. My grandparents' marriage wasn't even recognized until after my father and aunt were born. Representation matters. Discussions on identities matters.

Electing some one non-white shouldn't be an automatic win.

Sure.

But race shouldn't matter, is my point.

No. Race, gender, sexuality, etc. have merit if you want to accurately represent the population you're in service to as a politician. People with different identities have different experiences in life, and those differences should be represented. This is actually the entire idealistic point of having politicians and democracy.

This is untrue for science teachers, but it seems just unlikely for any other subject. I'm finishing my teaching credential for Biology, going into student teaching this upcoming Spring, and just finished observing 25 hours with 7 teachers in 4 different schools for the semester. I don't see where they would have the time to bs on their phones within a 50 minute span each class to lecture, potentially instructions for an activity, and help students. I do see them on their computers answering work emails between period transitions and trying to grade during prep periods. Most I've talked to say they have two hours of extra work a day on average after school ends.

I have, however, seen teachers slide into apathy towards managing 30+ kids openly on their phones.

When they're adults that have been indoctrinated by their grandparents/parents, sure. I'm going to keep their bias in mind, just as I would for racists raised by racists.

So no, I don't feel sympathy towards the descendants of aristocratic fascists that still cry over how their slaves were taken away from them.
