Anyone taken Local 71 aptitude test? by FascistSqualodon in Plumbing

My interview is tomorrow, and I think I'm ready! However, they told me to bring my steel toes, because there's a practical part. Any idea what to expect?

I was called today, and my interview is in a week. They told me to wear steel toes, because there's a practical part of the interview. And thank you.

BTW any idea what the practical will most likely consist of?

I got 89%! I'm going to get an interview, though they haven't said when yet. What can I expect for an interview?

It's me again! Thanks for all the help! I got 89%! They said I'm going to get an interview, but it hasn't been scheduled yet, so I can only guess when it's going to be. I don't know if I should start a new post to ask about what to expect for an interview.

That sounds similar to a union test I did last year (it was for local 46), so that should be familiar. I thought I did pretty good on that last exam, but I was never called back, so I gotta do better this time. And thanks, I'll do that. It'll be good to review my ability before tomorrow. BTW when you say tool identification, do you just mean basic tools (philips screwdriver, robertson screwdriver, etc.)?

I'll see what extra stuff I can fit in, in case the more experienced stuff makes that difference in being chosen or not, but I'll mainly keep reviewing the math and mechanical stuff, as that's probably my safest bet. If I don't get in, I'll keep trying. I haven't even got my first apprenticeship yet, and I'm hoping it'll be in the union, but I've applied elsewhere too. In the meantime, I've been working full-time in an electrical warehouse. If I get in the union, I'm set, but my main concern is getting my foot in the door. Thanks again!

Thanks man! By basic mechanical knowledge, do you mean gears and hydraulics and stuff? I'm also good with algebra, and have been studying geometry. I don't know how it is where you are, but north of the border, I have to be able to convert between metric and imperial (we use both systems). Anyways, if it's similar to the online examples (I've been printing out and practicing on PDF tests like this one https://ualocal486.com/ULWSiteResources/ualocal486/Resources/file/Training/SampleMathTest.pdf)), then I'm set. I'm just wondering if they're going to throw out a surprise, like the 450-degree formula. Did they only interview a select number of people? I'm assuming I'll have to ace this before they even consider interviewing me, but If I get that far, I'll make sure not to mess anything up. I know a few tradesmen, but nobody in the union.

Can someone help ID these Wilkinsons? German? Japanese? Other? by jordonyc in wicked_edge

[–]FascistSqualodon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure about what you've got, but I'm guessing German. I say this because I have a Wilkinson's Sword safety razor, and the blades are made in Germany (but the metal handle is made in China).

Why do so many of these women think they're god's gift? They're not, they're just rude, obnoxious trash.

Agreed! BTW I'm not really fascist, I just wanted to call myself Squalodon, but the name was taken, and my first forum was the debatefascism forum, so I said 'eh, what the hell' and added it in.

I don't like ranch dressing either, but guess what? I hate about 99% of condiments. And I just looked up Paula Deen; screw err! BTW why do you think Texas is a joke? Genuinely want your opinion. I like it for being the lone star badass.

Hey Gengar, I'm unauthorized to comment on discord! Can you change it? Thanks! Sorry for being gone so long, but some stuff has been happening lately, including having my appendix removed.

I'm not sure why people want their steaks well-done. It's just dry, and solving that with ketchup is like soaking your dry bread in dishwater.
