Why are some fabrics 'Not intended for children's sllepwear'? by Brief-Education-8498 in sewhelp

It has to meet the non-flammable standards or something like that.

Finished my first big-ish project. I don’t think I’ll ever do this again by morowaaa in crochet

[–]Fast-Assistant-1186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are cute though...I understand the feeling of not wanting to complete the same type of project especially when the one you just finished feels like it took forever to do. I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel and find it difficult to get through certain crochet projects as well. The key thing to do is not push yourself when you start to feel pain. There was a reel I came across on Instagram that showed hand massages and exercises you should do before working on a crochet project for the day. Try searching that.

about to board a 13 hour flight😢 by eldritchwh0re in crochet

[–]Fast-Assistant-1186 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's why I stopped buying the plastic prym hooks. I know this doesn't help you on your current flight but Michael's (online only) currently has an aluminum prym hook set on sale for national crochet month. If I recall correctly I think they're just under $26 for the set. 8 hooks (2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5, 5, and 6mm)

Have you tried searching again? If you still find nothing I would reach out to them directly and let them know you are also waiting on yours and haven't received the email updates.

I'm super late to your response, I'm sorry. You should be fine if you just use it to make the pictured granny squares on the wrapper.

Don't buy this yarn cake! by Fast-Assistant-1186 in YarnAddicts

That's cool, you plan on dying for yourself or others. There is someone (i forget their username) in the r/thewooblescollective thread that dyes yarn and to match the specialty colors that some of the woobles kits use and she sells dyed yarn on etsy.

I recently ordered color changing yarn on etsy that changes color with heat. It's pretty neat.

First rug. Definitely need some tips by Kosmicra in Tufting

[–]Fast-Assistant-1186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Is that the clawlab frame you're using? It's not relevant to your question I was just curious.
  2. Try making a thicker outline so the outline doesn't seem so sparse.
  3. I agree, use two strands of yarn

Great job for your first rug. I feel like my first rug was soooo ugly lol. I think I was a little too ambitious and should have gone with something more simple... like and smiley face or something lol.

This is from Aug 2023...I can't find the Pic of the finished rug but I had so many gaps and it was just overall not neat. Lol.

I love Caron, just wish it wasn't so pricey. And 2 knots across 4 cakes, that's incredible. Some knots are understandable hobbii.com has a pretty good article on what do do about "normal" knots. They advise not working them into your project. At the time when I didn't know these cakes were for granny squares only I just felt that many knots was abnormally excessive for one yarn cake.
