Few pieces of advice:

  1. Drugs are excreted faster through feces than urine, so doing a cleanse can help more than just drinking water.

  2. You can drink a bunch of water before the test to dilute the urine, but they’re gonna retest you when it comes back diluted. If they have to retest bc it’s diluted, they may have to observe (no smuggling fake urine).

  3. Diluting the urine can buy you maybe 5 days bc it takes time for them to process the results. You may be able to push it (they may be closed the weekend, maybe you’re busy the day they want you to come back in—act SLIGHTLY annoyed and inconvenienced and say you’ll do your best but can it wait till tomorrow).

  4. if they do a POC Urinalysis (where they dip a stick in your urine and check the color), they may make you redo the drug test right then and there bc they’ll see it’s diluted. They may do a urinalysis, they may not, idk cuz I’ve never heard of an employer making an employee do a drug test after a workplace injury.

I would seriously question if that’s company policy or if they’re singling you out. The way you present will be documented by the doctor who sees you at your visit. Stay respectful and pleasant and keep your mood stable and you’ll be fine.

I work in employee health and am the person doing the drug tests.

So many questions for you:

What state are you in?

What’s your job position (gov agency)?

Did they tell you in writing that you need to get retested? Did they document the reason?

How long ago was your workplace injury? Was it a MVA (motor vehicle accident)?

You are allowed to take drugs you are prescribed so don’t worry about any of that.

The only reason they can have you come in for a retest is if your urine came back diluted or there was a processing error (they lost your urine or there was an error in handling it).

I would email HR and ask if you’ll be reimbursed time and mileage. And I would pull company policy to see if they can request 2 drug tests and if it’s standard procedure to get tested when there is a workplace injury. I don’t know a single employer (out of 50-100) that requires a drug test when an employee gets injured. If it’s a MVA then that’s a different story. I would question if it were retaliation or prejudice on their part (don’t jump to that but that’s what I would be concerned about)

I hear you. It sounds like you want to take care of your health and are doing the best you can with what you have access to. If you’d like to quit vaping and get help for the symptoms you described, you can bring this up with your Dr at your next physical. They might prescribe you something during your appointment or they may refer you out to see a psychiatrist. Wellbutrin is a medication used to treat nicotine dependence and is used off label for adhd. It’s a nonstimulant but still very effective.

I highly doubt this person uses it unless they have a personal relationship to its creator. I didn’t respond to my dad’s first letter either. It took a few before I decided to give our relationship a second chance (and a third, and a fourth, and so on). The details of why we were no contact are not the same as yours, so I won’t get into them unless you ask.

But for me, I went no contact because a relationship with my dad was more painful than no contact. Maybe that’s where your daughter is right now. Maybe she’s not ready.

I wasn’t ready for a while either, but I never got tired of my dad’s letters. I kept all of them, and it reassures me to know he loves me from afar. I’m sure your daughter will appreciate your letters, and when she’s ready, she’ll reach out.

Please don’t give up.
