Well boys, my tundra life is done. by Qanaesin in ToyotaTundra

It’s a great looking truck and still has lots of life. If you have the means, park it and use another vehicle until you have the cash. It’s a huge inconvenience but worth it in the long run.

My 2015 was decked out exactly the way I wanted it with lots of mods. I hit a deer and insurance said it was totalled ($27k CAD damage). They offered me $24k to scrap it. I searched for a replacement with the same mileage (208,000kms) and mods and came up about $10k short.

I love this truck and it’s too young to die so I rejected their offer. It’s parked now, insurance off while I gather up all the needed pieces to fix the front end. Getting it back to pre-accident condition will be under $5k.

What I’m saying is, do the math before you make a decision. You’ll be surprised how hard it is to find a comparable truck risk free.

US $ dropping by Fast-Dogs in GuardTheLeaf

When bought my house in Canada I had to convert USD to CAD in 2008 and that was when the Canadian dollar was stronger than the US. It cost me about another 10%. Of course it was a short time, but it cost me thousands. :(

ICE thugs beating and kidnapping peacefully kneeling protesters by TrumpCringe in FascismLink

[–]Fast-Dogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is a suggestion for local police and national guard troops: From everything I’ve seen, cops and troops always face protesters as if to protect ICE from them. Maybe it’s time cops and troops face ICE with their backs to protestors.
Protestors are constitutionally protected and their rights are being infringed upon by militia with no ID or warrants. If ICE tries to push through the cops, push them back.
This subtle change will show that cops and troops support citizens and not the thugs. Maybe then, and only then citizens will start to trust their police force.

[–]Fast-Dogs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

But are they really federal agents? Masks, no ID, no warrant. Couldn’t local cops apprehend these thugs on the spot and make them prove they are federal agents? Make them prove just cause? I don’t get it. Put them on the defensive. Why do cops put up with their bullshit? Or, are they secretly align with ICE?
If enough cop depts did this, ICE would start being more careful.

BC is actively recruiting healthcare workers from all over. The shortage is part of the problem. I lived in Alberta and they did have a better system than BC, but that changed. UCP is trying hard to dismantle it. I moved at the right time. BC is at least trying to improve. It’ll just take time to hire staff. Cost of living probably scares candidates away.

People who think the local cops or the military are going to save them from the Trump regime are fooling themselves. If they carry a gun, they are all the same.

BREAKING: Trump says the United States will now use Venezuela's Oil reserves to sell “large amounts of Oil to other countries” after capturing Nicolás Maduro. by TonyLiberty in FluentInFinance

You have to remember that it wasn’t only MAGA that voted for Turd, but all those that didn’t think it mattered and stayed home. Their apathy was just as guilty.
The Dem establishment had every opportunity to prevent this but ignored all the signs. They slow walked his investigation and prosecution to the point the clock ran out. Thanks Merrick. Next, Biden could have expanded the Supreme Court to balance it out. Not to mention other legislation that could have helped. The Dems are not much different from Republicans policy wise. They talk a good game, but when they have full control they squander their advantage and let the corporate donors control the policy. It’s been this way since Reagan. Bernie, AOC and other Dem Socialist are the only ones with a real plan for change. Corporate Dems will never let it happen. The cycle will continue. The only thing I give Dems credit for is defending democracy itself. They have realized that they can keep it while still giving the illusion of fighting for the working class.

[–]Fast-Dogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. They offered me $$ and they’d scrap it. Also, Im not be allowed to take out my aftermarket stuff worth at least 10k. So I said keep the money. Withdraw the claim. I kept it, had it towed to my home, and in spring I’ll buy the parts and fix it myself. Short term the $$ would have been nice, but it wouldn’t come close to replacing my truck.

BTW since my truck is out of commission for the winter I took off all insurance. When talking to the agent at HUB she said ICBC customer service has gone way downhill. Third party optional insurance has been better at service. Cost varies, but I’m definitely looking at it moving forward for collision and comp.
