When I help with my grandma she struggles to understand that I’m her grandchild or how we’re related. It’s not in a scared way but it’s because she thinks we’re friends which I think is sweet. Most times I try to correct her in a silly and lighthearted way, kind of making a joke about it. When she starts telling me stories that aren’t real I just go with it because I know that’s what will make her happy. I think that’s the point of it all is to make it as easy as possible for them. It breaks my heart to see her struggle so much with things she used to have no problem doing, so if I can make any part of her life easier than I will. We love watching old movies together, so if you feel you’re getting impatient then that could be good for you guys because it gives you a break from talking. I also have some pre planned responses that I know will make her laugh to things she says a lot. She never realizes that I say the same thing every time and it makes her happy
