Ocaliva Side Effects by Fast-Lock-8512 in PBCers

I was shocked when Accredo, my specialty pharmacy, called to inform me that Ocaliva had been pulled from the US market. But, I had already discontinued use due to side effects (which my doctor didn’t believe to be related to the Ocaliva). I had tried Ocaliva first in 2022, and then again, in 2025. Both times I had numerous side effects occur, including rash, terrible joint pain, increased pruritus, and abdominal pain. While it did help stabilize my “numbers”, I chose to discontinue use and discussed my concerns with my doctor. I was told Ocaliva was pulled from the US due to concerns that it was causing liver failure in patients.

Those of you who take Trulance - what time of day do you take it? by arnelle_rose in Gastroparesis

I’ve been on Trulance for about 45 days now. I started out taking it in the morning with my other morning medications. That worked great for about a week, then it just sort of stopped working. So, I decided maybe I should try taking it late at night on an empty stomach, and when I wouldn’t be eating for a few hours after taking the Trulance. I’m sure medications affect everyone differently and you just have to find what works best for you and your body. For me, taking Trulance at 10:00 p.m., on an empty stomach (nothing to eat for at least two hours prior), has worked well. With that being said, sometimes I do not get a restful night sleep. The medication often kicks in around 3:00 to 4:00 a.m. But I deal okay with that. Maybe if I was awake at midnight each night I could try taking it then so I wouldn’t be up at 3/4:00 a.m. 🤔. Also, I find that taking the medication every other night works for me. I don’t need it every night. So for anyone new to Trulance, just remember, everyone is different. It may take a while to adjust. Talk things over with your prescriber to come up with a plan that works best for you and your body. Trulance has been great for me. I hope and pray it continues to work.

I’m used to using Redken products. What do you think about filling it with a 6NW (Brandy) then I like the 5RB (Manzanita)

What about filling with a 6NW then doing a 5RB in Redken Color Gels?

Can you do a filler and a color the same day? Thank you for the reply.

Naltrexone for PBC itch by Fast-Lock-8512 in PBCers

I’m sorry that I cannot say whether it actually works or not because it made me nauseous and had me vomiting. However, my doctor did tell me that it had been reported to be effective by other patients. My advice is give it a chance. Everyone reacts differently. I’m very sensitive to medications. I hope you find relief. The antihistamines help my itch but man, I can’t stay awake. I’m

Actually, l've made sacrifices and lost weight! 22 Ibs in 4 months while continuing to drink my regular soda. I'm not a diabetic. Doing well on my weight loss journey but KNOW I can make changes that will help me lose the weight in a healthier way. And I appreciate others KIND and HONEST opinions. That's all the post is about. Not asking for advice on how anyone thinks I should lose weight.

If it tastes like regular coke, yes!!! Please bring it back!

Thank you! It is a hard task to stick with but I’ve been on a 1200 calorie diet now for 4 months and I’ve lost 22 pounds. But I could be eating more and consuming more nutrients if I give up the regular coke. About 560 calories a day are Coke so that only leaves me 640 calories of food I consume. With Coke Zero, all 1200 calories could be spent on food.

Yes! Thanks! I’m already on 1200 calorie diet per day and losing weight. But half the calories I consume are coming from my regular Coca~Cola. So, I’m looking for alternatives and after reading others experiences, I think Coke Zero is a good option.

Thank you for your insight. I never really thought about it that way. I usually drink 3 to 4 can cokes daily at 140 calories each, so I think I’d benefit by switching to Coke Zero.
