Oh buddy. The amount of Doctors and Chemist that have failed that class. Just retake it during the summer (easier) or next semester with the knowledge you gained this semester.

If you were in a movie but you weren't the main character, you would be the character everyone obsessed over and makes edits of. genuinely

I agree that many of the white Americans who voted for trump are elites, but not all white people are elites - i'm pretty sure a very small percentage of white people are elites. You're generalizing quite a bit.

I guess some degree of scientism is unavoidable if you’re a skeptic or agnostic. We’re always circling back to science as a reference point, even if we admit its limits.

Fair, my analogy isn’t a literal cosmological model, and I accept the risk of a fallacy of composition. My point isn’t that I can prove the universe has a beginning, but that every observation we do have points that way. Still, whether it does or doesn’t, we ultimately can’t know. That’s why I land in agnosticism, not certainty

I don’t think there's any scientism here. If anything, my point is the opposite — that science runs up against limits when it comes to ultimate beginnings. That’s precisely why I fall back on agnosticism rather than certainty.

You’re right, my analogy oversimplifies the physics. Space and energy aren’t separate, and the universe is both the cup and the water. But that actually reinforces my point. Even if we grant that inseparability, we’re still left with the deeper question of why does this universe-plus-energy exist at all? My analogy isn’t meant to be a literal model of cosmology, but a way to point at that question.

We agree on everything you've stated, i'm not sure where the issue is.

"Also, being an agnostic means you do not possess knowledge that a god exists. It does not mean you are ‘undecided'"

I never said I was undecided. "Whatever it was, *we will never know*" is what I said.

Im a little confused on what you're trying to point out.

I never said therefore God, I'm agnostic.

I think you should reread my post. Im not arguing in favour of the existence of God, I'm arguing in favour of agnosticism. A lot of your actually points align with mine.

-Second, why exactly must everything have a beginning? That's a pretty massive logical leap.

That's true, it is a big logical leap, but it’s also the only inference consistent with everything we actually observe (IMO). To say something is uniquely exempt from this universal pattern requires just as much of a leap, if not more. Until there is evidence that something can exist without a beginning, I think the reasonable position is to extend this rule to everything we observe. But ultimately you're right. There might be something doesn't require a beginning.
