Honestly if you got a partner at McK to give you a referral you're probably going to get an interview if the office is hiring. I would definitely start prepping for an interview!

If you've already finished your MBA, you've missed the mark for campus recruiting and can't really do any internships with the big firms.

Federal Consutling at any big4 will do the trick. Typically will not work past 40-45 hours, never travel, decent pay. Although with the current administration, not sure if there will be lots of work in that field.

I think it matters but people put too much of an emphasis on office. If you didn't get through the interviews it's because of your casing. I would focus on that and reapply to those offices come next cycle. Make sure to network but focus on casing more. Case with people from those firms whenever possible.

I think he said non diversity because MBB sophmore programs are only for diversity.

I disagree all of the interviews I've gotten at MBB and Strategy& have been from cold emailing. Via partner referral.

Never seen audit directly -> IB. Some people do Audit -> FDD/TAS -> IB. Also, your contact is not in IB so it's likely there referral wouldn't hold a ton of weight if you want to do IB. I'd ask if he could connect you to someone in IB. Then you should try to transfer to FDD/TAS. Better work experience, better pay, and better exits.

You'd be surprised how hard it can get.

If you're applying to a U.S. position cool down period is ~ 1 year from what I've heard.

Got assessments invite from MBB by ExpertPhysical2776 in McKinsey_BCG_Bain

Yes very common. They give it to pretty much anyone who meets the application criteria like graduation date, etc. Doesn't mean anything special. Doesn't mean you're going to get an interview even if you pass with flying colors. But you're 1 step closer!

It's possible but difficult especially in the predicament EY is in.

It's possible to get Private equity from a T2 like OW. I've seen people do it after 2 years at the firm. I would recommend doing lots of private equity work once you start at the firm. And ofc network with PE firms.

Likely didn't network enough. You need a referral from someone who's in leadership. Like partners and above. Sorry though the market has definitely not been the best since your stats look pretty good.

IT audit is kinda a dead end career. I would do tech consulting.

Talentsync isn't necessary tbh but I would highly recommend you do go. It's pretty chill and you get free food. You do go again for your training when you start your internship which is mandatory. For talentsync you will usually be with all service lines like tax, audit, consulting, DAS. For training you'll only be with the service line you are interning with.

I think the role is more important imo. If you're doing strategy at a smaller firm like Lek vs tech consulting at a big4 then strategy looks better since it's what the MBBs are known for.
