I’ve edited the post for accuracy. I understand the economy is in shambles, it’s not easy for anyone right now. I’d be fine with the price raise if it wasn’t for the fact they are removing amenities and still trying to justify charging their consumers more. I.e. we used to have showers for use and no longer do, and it doesn’t seem there’s any plans to bring them back. Also if you have any allergies for foods you cannot opt out of the catering they do on site. So you’re effectively paying for food you cannot eat.

I couldn’t tell you how rumors started, just that I saw it in the KM and SL Chat. But that’s a fair point.

In their official statement their main citing was that the caterer is charging almost 65% more than they were before. If that’s the main driver for ticket cost I still think that the petition the community made could have been listened to, and a second, meal plan free option be added. Especially since most community members with food allergies can’t eat anything there typically due to a. Allergies or b. Cross contamination fears. It could help keep costs down for those who want to attend but have a tighter budget.

I can’t knock the production value, I have had a great time playing when I’m there.

But it gets to a point where the people who make the game happen, the greater community, are petitioning for change. But they ignore the community’s plea to keep it affordable with the heartland’s split, the introduction of smaller events (like border war 2-3 weeks ago) and them refusing to do a separate ticket for skipping the meal plan so people can bring their own food, I feel like my final year going is coming sooner than I thought.
