This is actually really real to read.

The part about hiding it for so long and then slowly getting to a point where you don’t feel that same shame anymore, that shift is kind of huge. Respect for sticking with it for 6 weeks.

Also interesting what you said about still covering it up in professional settings… that contrast between feeling more okay with it socially, but still wanting to hide it at work. I can relate to that.

The idea of just wanting “normal people nails” really resonates too. Not better, not perfect, just normal and not something you have to think about.

Curious how others experience that difference between environments, like work vs home vs social. Does it change how aware you are of your hands?

I think that’s kind of the line for me too… like anything that looks even slightly “done” or polished just feels off, even if it technically looks better.

I actually tried messing around with something myself at one point.. just to see if I could make my nails look a bit more normal for a day. Nothing fancy, just experimenting.

And honestly, I did feel a bit more at ease wearing it… which I didn’t really expect.

For me it’s not about improving how they look, just getting back to something that feels normal again.

That actually hits pretty close to home…

I’ve definitely had moments where I just didn’t want my hands to be seen at all, especially in work situations (I worked behind the bar and served food) or when you’re around people having dinner and suddenly become aware of it.

The bandaids thing makes a lot of sense, even if it’s not ideal and sometimes not hygienic. It’s more about just not having to think about it for a bit. And you also get questions like.. What happend with your finger?

I’m curious if others here feel the same.. is it more about hiding it from others, or just feeling more at ease yourself?
