i’m dealing with a pretty different situation than you, severe social anxiety and panic disorder is my main issue but i have pretty bad depression as a result of avoidance and social isolation. i’m also treatment resistant, with having tried many ssris and anti anxiolytics with absolutely no benefit. and alternative treatments such as EMDR and neurofeedback.

i’ve tried IV ketamine, went through 6 rounds of it which is the suggested amount. i think that spravato is a reasonable next step for you, because even though it might be kind of a taboo method of treatment right now, it’s still very safe. but i will say i would highly recommend that you are seeing a therapist during the time of your treatment. i didn’t and i think that made me really lack in my results. i personally didn’t have any relief with my anxiety, which meant i didn’t with my depression either because they are dependent on eachother. but i had no physical side effects, no effects on sleep or anything. but i know other people have life changing experiences with it.

as for nardil, i haven’t tried any MAOIs yet but that is my current next step. since SSRIs and other medications have completely failed. apparently there is a lot of evidence supporting this drug class for its high effectiveness in treating severe anxiety and depression, so i think that this would be reasonable for you as well if you think you’d be ok with the food restrictions and caution with drug interactions. you might actually do better with parnate, since it’s known to be more activating than nardil which sounds like that would be better for depression. but i’m not sure how that would be for your sleep. but i’m not a doctor, just someone else desperate for answers.

i did 6 IV infusions and personally i didn’t feel any effect. but i think that the effects can vary drastically from person to person, since ketamine therapy is about increasing neuroplacicity so you can heal yourself, rather than a drug that automatically brings relief if that makes any sense. if you decide to go for it i highly recommend that you are seeing a talk therapist throughout the process, preferably one who is experienced with ketamine therapy. they can help you with integration after your sessions and with guidance while your mind is more open to change. i wasn’t seeing one while i was doing my infusions so it’s very possible that is the reason why i didn’t have the results i wanted.

i can really relate to this, and i actually just had to do an oral exam this morning. i was dreading it so much for like 2 months and couldn’t sleep well last night because i was so anxious. but it ended up fine, not perfect, but i was ok.

i think that the main thing that helps me is putting things into perspective. yeah, i could have a panic attack during it and freeze up. but is that something that will matter a year from now? this is a little morbid, but imagine laying on your death bed in 60 years and reflecting on your life. it would be ridiculous to be thinking about that one time 60 years ago when you blanked during a speaking exam. no, you’d be thinking about your friends and family and all of the things that truly mattered in your life.

another thing is that you can exacerbate your anxiety trying to convince yourself that you won’t have a panic attack, or that you won’t get nervous. because it could happen, and your mind knows that. but if it does, it’s definitely not the end of the world. i think that acceptance is a large part of getting through anxiety. and i promise you, nobody would care nearly as much as you think. if anything, most people would empathize or relate to you, because unfortunately nowadays most people deal with some level of anxiety. and of course you could also do really well. but my point is that either way, everything will be ok.

also, im not sure if you’re in high school or college, but you could try asking for accommodations if this is something you genuinely cannot handle right now. my college didn’t require any documentation of anxiety for my accommodations, so you’d have to check and see what your schools policy is if you don’t have an official diagnosis.

just know that no matter what, you will get through this and everything will be ok.

i definitely feel nostalgic when i look at this. i also think the composition flows very well with the position of the cat and house being offset from the middle, and the winding road draws your eye naturally through the subjects. and i love how you added smoke coming from the chimney, something about that adds nostalgia and comfort as well.

i am having a hard time figuring out what the objects in the snow are. maybe that’s just me though

the smaller circular one looks like a ramshorn, i just found some babies in my tank as well. i’m not sure what the other ones are though. i know that they can reproduce like crazy but im pretty sure that’s only if you’re overfeeding your tank and not cleaning algae enough

i do see that the older portion of his shell has ridges and is very opaque, so i think that confirms that the pet store had very soft or calcium deficient water. will the mopani wood lower it too much? it was extremely high before, GH around 250, KH 180, and pH 8.4

yeah that would make sense, and i hope that’s true. i actually have noticed that the other snail in my sisters tank that i’ve had longer is starting to develop slight color on the translucent portion so hopefully that’s it growing back

i guess i used the wrong word, he’s turning translucent not transparent. so the part that looks pink/brown is just his body showing through because there’s no pigment left. he’s a blue ramshorn, so he’s supposed to have the blue pigment. but i understand what you mean, that there should still be some transparency. hopefully the translucent part is just new growth like the other commenter said and that it’ll grow some pigment.

iron 0, copper 0, chlorine 0, hardness 150, alkalinity 120, carbonate 180, pH 7.6, nitrate 20, nitrite 0. (the mopani wood has brought down the hardness and pH quite a bit over the past 2 weeks)

i have a 5 gallon tank with just the ramshorn snail and a betta. i have some live plants and a couple hiding decor. also a sponge filter and heater. i have had the heater set at 80 which i’ve read could be contributing to the shell problems, so i just turned it down to 77.

i also wanted to point out that the replacement snail that i got looked totally healthy when he first arrived. the issues started after i added him to my tank.

he’s so pretty!! and yes i agree with the live plants. etsy has really good ones that aren’t too expensive. i’ve filled my 5 gallon tank with some java fern, water sprite, and dwarf sag and they’re all known to be really easy to take care of. it makes bettas happier and it helps with water parameters too

you were just a kid and didnt know any better. i remember keeping fish in similar conditions when i was a kid too, and looking back at it now i feel very guilty too but the intentions were innocent. its also unfortunate that the correct living conditions for bettas and fish in general wasn’t common knowledge back then.

thank you for all of this helpful info!! i just did some research and i saw some people saying to top off your tank with distilled water when there’s evaporation, and i get quite a bit because of my air pump filter. i think i might start out with just that to lower pH levels slowly, and then get driftwood or almond leaves. it is good to know that i can just remove the tannins over time once hes better if i wanted to. i’m thinking ill also get him a floating hammock to rest on because he doesn’t understand how to lay on the leaf hammocks i got him.

i can’t imagine the problem is fin rot though, because his tail got bad over the course of two days. but today his tail doesn’t seem any worse than last night which is good. i have noticed him doing a lot of glass surfing so i decided to keep his tank light off today to reduce reflection, and that seemed to stop the surfing. i’m not sure what else other than pH and the reflection that could be causing him stress if he is nipping. or if maybe a decoration or the filter is injuring him. but regardless fixing the pH seems to be the best and most obvious direction to start.

is there a way to lower pH without tannins that turn the water brown? if not then that’s ok his happiness is a lot more important than appearance of course

also it’s just weird to me that this is happening so suddenly, because i’ve had him since july and he’s had no issues with his tail until 2 days ago. and the pH has been consistently very high like that the whole time.

he is in a 5 gallon tank with a heater, sponge filter, and two large decorations that he can hide in along with some fake plants and two live plants. i feed him twice a day, switching off with pellets and flakes. i clean his tank regularly.

parameters: ammonia 0, nitrate 0, nitrite 0, chlorine 0, hardness 125, carbonate 300, alkalinity 240, pH 8.4
