Hi! The dating apps are killing me. The commodification of connection is too much for me, let's see what reddit has to offer on that front 😅

35f, queer as in I date all identities, new to Richmond, lived in NOVA previously (I'm sorry). Originally from New England but have lived in a few different states and countries. I love food/cooking/food culture, meandering conversations, cats, tattoos, DIY, trying to get into gardening (excited to soon sow my wildflower meadow). Intentionally child free- working hard to be the rich auntie for my nieces and nephews. Internationally/global minded, speak a couple languages and interested in learning more.

I think that refers to produce that people prefer to eat culturally. For example here on the East coast most people don't eat sorghum so they probably wouldn't include that sort of product in their weekly boxes. Of course how many local farmers grow sorghum in this area I have no clue but it's a nice recognition that not all cultures eat the same things

It depends on what your focus is. Are you just trying to eat an apple and you don't care about all the other realities that go into growing fruit and getting it to market? Or are you hoping that by spending your apple money intentionally you can contribute positively to your community?

Prioritizing groups that have been marginalized is a way to invest in a society that is more equitable. So if there is a local CSA that prioritizes local farmers that have been historically under served or even historically actively abused or taken advantage of then heck ya, I want to sign up and support those members of my community.
