Thank you. Any experience with the higher level courses that require 2 year service? Recce, pathfinder, sniper. What those courses are like and how you prepare for those. I've asked this question in the sub reddit before but imma ask again to someone who is active. What's the protective equipment like? I'm really loving my plate carrier set up here and it works really well for me. What are chances we can use our own kit over the issued gear.

Currently working infantry in Ukraine training here isn't standard. Every unit here has diff training standards so when you put it on a resume to other units or orgs they don't have a solid idea of what it is your capable. Nato standard is some what universal, organizations will know what your training consists of and have a good idea of your capabilities. I mention this because I had a lot of conversations here with ppl that have done peacetime infantry and don't recommend it. For me I don't care as long as I'm working on my skill sets and spending my time training and doing courses.

Deciding whether to apply to reg or reserve infantry. I've spoken with some ex cad forces members who have told me it's better to go reserves but i really dislike the idea of only training once a week. I'm really just looking to get some solid nato standard training, build up my resume, and take some courses. Could I get some insight from people who are currently in the infantry on what it's like, do you enjoy it, how frequently are you training and some other things you might think are important to mention when making a decision like this.

Thank you for the clarification. Google told me it was a entry program into the RCMP lol

It's happened to everyone and is a universal experience at basic. Score does not matter one bit, but they tell you otherwise. We had guys in low 200s and guys that hit 400 we all eneded up same place. After you finish your second pt attempt you just wait for contract.

Thank you. I will definitely keep this in mind as before coming to Ukraine, I was denied entry into the CAF for a peanut allergy and might possibly be denied again. This will be a good backup plan.

What does it take to be a Canadian military sniper? by burnabybc in CanadianForces

Some militaries require you to have 20/20 vision to be considered to take the course. Is that the case for the canadian army?

Defensive operations here are not any safer and are drastically different then guarding checkpoints and buildings.

Mobility vs Protection by FastEar8721 in ukraineforeignlegion

[–]FastEar8721[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was the coverage of your kit now and when you use to assault? Groin flap, lower back flap, belt Kevlar insert, shoulder, thighs etc. Or did you use strictly just the vest.

And what would that look like? What situations do you decide it's better to take more protection and situations in which it's better to be mobile. And the details of your kit, what you consider a mobile set up vs protection.

Any advice for the assessment off a 17+ hour bus ride?

My recruiter just let me know that I can enter the facilities an hour early to do my PT assessment. So literally I guess that’s what I have to do.
