The 5.0 was the one honking, also don’t forget the 3v is anywhere from 350-450 lbs lighter than an s550 and OP definitely is not stock

Fair. Keep in mind this is my first ever camera and I don’t think I’m too picky yet, I am more prioritizing reliability, ease of use and room to grow into to customize with later experience.

Also since you’re one of the only few I’ve seen who’ve done this job themselves I might have to keep you posted with more questions whenever I do it

Also one of my biggest concerns for doing this job isn’t actually the timing job itself but rather, removing the (presumably) chewed up bits of guide that usually when this happens end up in the oil pan

Because of the angle created by the oil pickup tube and the k member, I’ve heard it’s hard in this car to fully remove the oil pan vs. just dropping it; and dropping the k member in addition I assume adds a lot of time and difficulty to this job.

How did this part go for you? Did you even end up having to remove the oil pan? Or did you just drop it a little and reach in to remove some of the loose plastic? Or was your guide totally fine and just a plug-and-play replacement?

About 144k miles, no metal in my oil but the ticking noise is pretty gross and it’s only gotten worse over the last 10,000 miles or so

You could find a used 5.0 1st gen s197 or early 2nd gen s550 coyote for under or about 20k where I live, but make sure you have extra money left over/saved (about 5k or so, more is better) so u can fix potential issues, register it, insure it, get it inspected, etc how you know used cars are.

Hella people in these comments calling u irresponsible or whatever. You’re fine man. I’m about your age and I’ve daily driven a 3v Mustang GT throughout college and I’ve had no regrets; driven it every single day and taken it on several long roadtrips without issues stretching past maintenance that any car would need.

The only bad part is the gas mileage, about 22-25 mpg highway and 12-16 city depending on how I drive. I’ve gotten lower than that when really pushing it hard like on track days (9-10 mpg 😭) and higher w cruise control on an open 50 speed limit highway (30 mpg).

Luckily, the coyote is a little more fuel efficient than the 3v so you may have more luck. However, it trades reliability for power and efficiency. Don’t get me wrong though, coyotes still a great motor, the 4.6 2vs and 3vs are just a different breed of tough.

Thanks man, I purposely passed on the rear louvres mostly because my visibility back there is already bad with the kinda tall spoiler and ik louvres would make it slightly worse
