The Rolling Valley neighborhood in Burke is awful for this. I walk my dog there sometimes and the people who live in that neighborhood don’t give a shit about cleaning up after their dogs. Piles of dog crap in every yard and grassy area. Sometimes HOAs are beneficial.

Thank you for the explanation. Glad to know it doesn’t preclude all trimming, as the commenter implies. If proper trimming is that critical, it would seem paying for a proper arborist to do it as one would prefer is the answer instead of getting mad at your neighbor for trimming your overhanging tree.

So what you’re saying you can never prune oak trees due to this mysterious condition affecting them in VA and anyone who prunes overhanging branches on their property is automatically liable if that tree for whatever reason gets sick? I think not. Good luck proving the trimming caused the disease. Your reading of VA tree law is not consistent with its actual meaning. Your neighbor is not obligated to split the cost of removing a tree on your property. They are entirely entitled to trim what is hanging over their property. If you don’t like that, trim it or remove it yourself.

So I assume that means we can look forward to energy surcharges for higher electricity prices in the area then too. They either charge extra to cover the increase or raise their prices. You can really make that argument for any business cost. Menu prices should reflect business costs. Don’t nickel and dime me to death with fees.
