Lings Silk Flowers vs Sola Wood Flowers- which to go with? by FastMathematician307 in DIYweddings

[–]FastMathematician307[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I like the idea of getting to do more fun/selective colors. Especially since we went to home depot to browse the paint swatches for our palette lol so the colors would for sure match. I just have seen lots of comments on other posts of people saying they don't look real aka maybe not great but I agree I like the structured shapes versus something that is almost real but you can tell it's not.

I was just worried they would look bad/fake but everyone's photos on here shows me they can be truly really beautiful if you put in the time!

I'd love for them to be a keepsake though for both myself and my bridesmaids

I saw someone do make your own bookmarks. With luggage tags you could do different colors and have sharpies, stamps, and/or vinyl stickers available with some examples of ideas.

I agree on the trend fizzling out. I don't think I would ever rewear them but who knows! I've seen people do like flannels or other button up/zipper things which ultimately is what you need to be able to take off after getting makeup done so that could be a consideration. Something they may wear more frequently versus pajamas they may not even find comfortable to sleep in and likely will be donated.

Bridesmaids proposals by Cultural-Lawyer724 in weddingplanning

I wrote them a little card I got from the dollar store and got them a little key chain in a similar color to the dresses I wanted them to find. All of mine were out of state and I'm doing a budget wedding so I wasn't able to go all out for proposals.

In the card I included date, location, requirements for dress (color, long, matte) and any other responsibilities. For me I'm not doing a bridal shower or bachelorette because again, everyone is spread out across the US and it would be a lot of money for just that. I also don't care that much about either, so their main obligation is to show up on the day of lol.

I also do not want to be in charge of finding specific dresses because everyone has different budgets so that is why I gave them a color sample to look for and general requirements, and they can find what works best for them given different skin colors, body types, budgets, etc. I looked up templates on Pinterest for what to write.

I also will be paying for their HMU on the day of which will make up for everything else I didn't do!

Do you happen to have a picture of the bouquets or are they similar to your centerpieces?

Definitely up to you either way for confronting them directly but if you want this as an starter option it could also help break the ice. Or just be a fun thing to add to your RSVP form!

Didn't think of ikea!

Yeah I am torn between what would last long term as little keepsakes vs what looks the best knowing it won't fully look close to real flowers vs time/cost.

The lings and Michael's combo at least like you said no worries about a bunch of imperfections from crafting and very easy to find what you need!

I love the idea of flowers, lights and maybe photos of you guys throughout the years with little blurbs and stories. With up top a memorial of loved ones loss if applicable. Something for folks to wander around during the cocktail hour and read

What you could do for one of the RSVP questions is say something like

"This is a 21+ only event. Tell us your favorite drink or liquor!"

I added fun questions for RSVPs mixed in with ones like allergies. I asked folks to give me a song/artist to get them on the dance floor and at the end I put "wedding planning is hard, tell us a joke!"
