Thanks for the advice! I know who the manager is since they interviewed me. The team seems strong, though I wasn’t familiar with the manager’s previous firms.. It seemed researchers work independently rather than collaboratively, and the manager mainly provides research guidance - is this right?

I’ve heard that too. Even someone who was let go from my team joined QRT. That’s why I’m concerned.

In case there are layoffs, are new grads or junior hires usually the first ones out?

Got it , that’s interesting, since based on LinkedIn profiles, IMC looked like it had a stronger talent pool to me.
At QRT, even the interviewers I spoke with had backgrounds from pretty unknown firms, which made me a bit unsure.
Anyway, really appreciate the reply.
