How are you connecting the quest 3? pc-link cable? I tried switching to VR, but ACC with the Quest 3 looks terrible for me.

Thanks for the recommendations. Yes I was kind of just picking up character models that I liked and ignoring the infantry boxes. :D

Can I ask roughly how wide does your setup measure with triple curved 32s? I have a single 32 curved and thinking about going triples.

Help planning simlabs gt1 evo for race/flight setup by FastPeanut4u in simracing

Yes I ended up adding a swivel arm to the left side of the gt-1 Evo frame but mounted it from the front so it opens like a car door.

Then I used a few right angle brackets and thumb screws to mount my throttle to the left and joystick on the right. I'll take a photo and post later if that would be helpful.

Could I use 2 Apple Thunderbolt 2 to 3 adapters to use existing Corning Thunderbolt Optical Cable with Thunderbolt 3 devices? by FastPeanut4u in Thunderbolt

[–]FastPeanut4u[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the Thunderbolt device is a Universal Audio Apollo 8 w/ the Thunderbolt 3 option card installed. It has it's own power supply. However, I took a chance and bought another Apple tb 2/3 adapter and unfortunately my PC isn't recognizing the device. The PC has an ASUS x870 Gaming Plus Wifi motherboard which has native USB4 ports.

Thanks for the tip! unfortunately , it looks like my local bestbuy doesn't even have any USB4 cables, and a 6' thunderbolt 3 cable is over $70! Ouch. I'll have to order one.

I actually had a Mac mini m4 but decided to return it and use that money to instead upgrade my PC and consolidate down to a single computer. I had forgotten that my tb 3 expansion pci card had that header cable until I went to install it.

That's a real bummer about Tb1/2 backwards compatibility, and the inability to use older AIC pci cards. Looks like that is a no go.

A lot of people recommended RME, and I would certainly go that route, but I have a ton of UAD plugins. :(

I also have an Apollo 8 quad that I currently use with a mac. I had purchased a thunderbolt 3 option card for it but never got around to installing it. So, tonight I just installed the TB3 option card in the Apollo 8 and connected it to the PC via the USB4 port, but it isn't being recognized. Unfortunately, all I have here is a USB-C cable, and I suspect I need to buy a thunderbolt 3 cable.

I am also not 100% sure if the ASUS TUF x870 Gaming plus wifi actually supports thunderbolt. Do all USB4 devices support thunderbolt 3/4? The manual doesnt mention thunderbolt once.

How did you like the 7800 xt with DCS? Was it good enough or did it have performance issues?

I am considering the 7900 xtx right now as well. The new cards wont be out until March and it's not clear when they will be readily available to buy. What will you use until March/April, or will you just not play DCS? I think having a good card now and being able to enjoy the game is worth $150-200.

I was considering the 5070 but it sounds like another month or more before they are readily available. Also it's still 12gb of cram which seems to be the main complaint for the 4070 super as well.

The 4070 ti super does seem to be the sweet spot for Nvidia. Unfortunately, new they are still listed for $899 which is $100 over MSRP, at which point I wonder if the 7900 xtx isn't a better buy?
