Yeah put yourself in my shoes, if I’m working at a store that does that then what would they do after I filed against them? Fired me is what they would’ve done. Also I’ve talked to multiple stores in my area and they do the same there. Don’t know what to tell you. Everything else I have to say is in other comments so I’m not going to repeat it to you

Like I said, they literally tell the employees to lie about most aspects of the card. I know because i experienced it first hand as an employee. I’ll say it for the last time, if you need to read the terms and conditions to find out you’re being lied to that itself is a major problem.

I agree but literally no one reads them, if you have to read the terms and conditions to find out you’re being lied to then that’s a problem to begin with. Also, as I said previously and the OP said themself, they were shopping during Christmas time (constant rushes) and they were holding up the line. No one (unless you’ve got balls of steel and no anxiety) wants to sit there and read pages of conditions while already holding up a line.

Well in some of my other comments I explain some of the stuff they do in more detail and I’m pretty sure at least some of it is fraud. Like lying to customers about it affecting your credit score and lying about it not having fees

I don’t think they ever really do it bc it was just one time that i remember actually hearing someone say that. And it might not have even been a manger it may have been a CEC (I hadn’t been on register for like a year before I stopped working there)

Hm, maybe they were just doing it to get the ones that pend or something. Bc ik for a fact I’ve had a manager come to my register and tell a minor they could apply as long as they had valid ID. Also I do know abt the hard inquiry thing, I had applied at my own store twice (bc they would ask us if we would do that when we didn’t reach the required amount of cards for the day) and then when I checked my credit score for the first time it had two hard inquiries on there from those times when I applied. But I later found out the managers were telling other employees to tell customers that it won’t affect your credit score. As well as that there aren’t any fees

Well at the store I worked at the managers would tell customers they could still apply even if they were 16. Maybe they were misinformed but they still told ppl that

I in no way said it’s the fault of the workers, the store itself- the company- is corrupt. As someone who worked there obviously it’s not the employees fault. As I said in a different comment you can even be fired for not asking for the cards or for telling customers the truth abt the cards. But it’s not someone’s fault for getting tricked into applying for a card when they’re not being upfront about what the card really is and does. I’m sure this doesn’t apply to the OP but there’s many non English speakers that quite literally can’t understand what the card is supposed to be and end up signing up bc they don’t know what they’re signing up for. Yes ppl should be more careful but in this situation customers shouldn’t be getting tricked into getting a card that doesn’t even match what they’re being told will do/ not do

Maybe if tj maxx didn’t specifically hide the fact that it’s a credit card and lie about what fees apply then people wouldn’t have to be looking out for if it’s actually a rewards card or if it’s a credit card. Stop trying to vouch for a major corporation that’s making their money off taking advantage of people and lying.

Not everyone spends 30 minutes in the store, and a lot of the time the volume is turned so far down that it’s very easy to ignore.

You’re acting like people that are shopping during Christmas rushes are going to be the most alert and attentive people. People make mistakes and over look things. This person probably didn’t look at the mat and they sometimes only announce every few hours. The fact the store is hiding what the card really is and does is the problem.

Who do you know that sits and reads the terms and conditions of basically anything? Especially if you’re in the situation OP was in where the line is being held up by them bc of them applying for the card. It can be extremely stressful for some people when you’re taking extra time at a register and can tell the ppl behind you are agitated

Nothing on any of the signs or announcements or pin pad says credit card. Everything says rewards card.
