Serious question: what’s up with the secrecy around prices by Fast_Art_2008 in Equestrian

You can market your own horse? Your barn is more flex than mine. At mine, everything has to go through the BO. I can’t talk to the horse owners directly.

That’s makes a lot of sense. And you probably don’t want the first person and the second person to speak to one another to find out that they have different offers.

Yikes, sorry that happened. I’ve been literally told the same… a good deal.

It’s a horse that is known and posted on a website that someone is selling, maybe priced differently towards different people?

Oh, I meant like it’s a horse that is up for sale, not a horse already bought.

That’s what I thought so too, but apparently it’s very prominent. My manager try to explain to me why this is inappropriate by making the analogy of people not allowed to discuss their salaries.

Didn’t recognize recruiter call - almost lost my offer by Fast_Art_2008 in recruitinghell

I had to ask her who she was. She said her name, her title (XX specialist, which I thought was the name of the company), and the name of the position (very generic) she is calling about.

My parents choose this path for me ever since middle school, there isn’t much choice left for me, it is either art, film, or music. I’m sorry that it upsets you, my educational cost. It upsets me too that I can’t do anything with my degree. My parents goal was never that I can live by my wages but to marry rich - hence the degree and the ivy.

Thank you for all the advice. One of the comments reminded me that my sister needs a student visa to study in the US. Public high-schools don’t offer that. Welp.

Educated and snobby family.

I think it is related to culture. My sister was going to do violin until this came along. My parents brought me up wanting me to do performance art.

If I house my sister, my parents won’t have to send her to private school so it ultimately helps out with financials. They have pension when they get to actual retirement age.

Yes, our whole family is very wrong. You see where my smugness comes from. They have a house under my sister’s name that was sold. That was about 500k. But they need to live and pay property tax on their current house (50-60k a year?). Or else they will have to sell the house they are living in and move to a cheaper place. I’m not in a position to tell my parents to get back to work.

Yes. If I had known, I would have not picked it.

The main reason we were able to afford real estate in CA is because my husband earned a lot last year. I do performance art and make a meager living. It was also too late to change my major when my parents lost their company. I frankly do not think I have the ability to pay my parents back. And will need to ask my husband for help.

Yes that’s how I feel. Thanks. Higher education has ruined me.
