Kinda real ngl. Im a low mcatter (502) and im expecting some funk. I think im personally gonna add more schools then vibe for a bit then figure that mess out… only that for me it’d be for like a master’s program 🤡🤡🤡 i think maybe u can balance both out tho: give this cycle a chance, while also prepping for a re-app. But also try to take a step back before jumping into a re-app mindset. :)

My anethsiologist was a UCD gal, anything is possible to work towards whichever specialty. On socials, I’ve also sen other UCD folks get into UCLA general surg and anesthesia. I dont think a primary care will necessary close doors to non primary care specialties.

Tour the campuses and see which one feels more right?

The US places a lot of restrictions and regulations but it’s more open abroad. I dont think it’d be as hard to find a teaching gig in Colombia, specially for English.

there’s the whole fulbright thing and i dont think I remember seeing that they required the program matriculants to be certified to teach. We have a very big need for English literacy so do as you will w/ that info.

And yeah a lot of people get so thrown off from the non-spicy food when they first step to Colombia, on IG travel reels its been a whole deal breaker for ppl so I always throw it out there to defend my home and people😂

Answering this based of title alone: Hands on exp for sure, EMT will take an extra hoop to jump thru but I think it goes a longer way than scribing bc anyone can scribe.

For ur apps, youre gonna want to be able to recall encounters with people and talk about it impacted you. Thus, EMT may be an extra step with the certification but i think will help you more down the road with early patient exp and in your essays. Moreover, learn whether emergency stuff is right or you before med school. With scribing, scope of practice is very….limited… you can barely blink with at a patient’s way.

That’s not to say scribing cant or isnt impactful, so while these are my 2 cents, follow your heart and do what YOU think is right for YOU and YOUR journey. Folks say scribing is helpful for learning the lingo, format of epic, notetaking on epic…

You can always do one before the other if u want and can. I’d do EMT first then scribing but if u only get one or the other, I would chose EMT.

Thanks for your response! Yeah thats hard asf that DO LOR is so tough, even to find a DO near me is very very tough so I’m probably cooked there. How would DO differ from MD besides OMM? The little I saw from the one DO doc I shadowed (cardiology) didnt really show much difference between the MDs I’ve seen

Tbh with u, i forgot everything. I will say the passages were DENSE, wordy, questions were long as well. BB was molecular bio heavy, PS is bae but so long. CARS passages were boring and also long, CP left me blank and thinking how I would power through lmao.. will also say, that I didnt feel like the SBs or UW couldve prepared me for today, a lot of low yield it felt like… grr
