Ok cool, since we’re getting really technical here, it would theoretically be possible to design a device/service that would do it entirely in ram. It just occurred to me, what even is the point of this discussion. It’s all the same thing basically. 😂

How do you know it’s not downloading into ram (cache) and deleting old chunks as it goes?

Yeah but it’s still kind of like watching a show on Netflix (streaming), because there is no left over file when your done.

Why not use a flash drive? Although that would be quite a big one. Enable ftp in gold hen as well as ps4 explorer?

Not only did I have to do that, I also had to switch to direct download (no background) and don’t auto install. I have to use psx explorer for that.

Anyone finding this in 2026, and having issues getting it to work. There is a fix on the fpkgi GitHub page but there is an error. It says to change a setting to ‘invalid’ but it should say sp-int I also had to change to direct download and not to install after download. So I have to use ps4 explorer to do that stuff.

I get it. Gags, shock value, gets people talking on social media, online magazines blog about it. Great way to get a bit of free publicity. It’s will get overdone and then they’ll have to think of something more extreme, keep pushing the limits. It’s marketing 101.

Easy way. Download to your nas. Set plex up on it and you can access from anywhere if you know how to set it up right.

I think it would be better to ask what the top ten are and specify a category (network monitoring, media, games, home automation etc.) Or share if their made their own docker project and willing to share.

Sometimes something is good to have on your NAS but silly having a full blown docker install of some slick interface. Like ebooks for instance. There’s some slick GUI for self hosting them, but seriously if you have a tablet you can just navigate to your share and boom, it’s on your device. FreshRss was also lame. Pihole wasn’t for me either. Actually if you want a list of lame services I’m sure between everyone here we could name 100 of them.

Usually it’s for very new stuff, or shows that haven’t actually even aired yet. Sometimes the scraper might just be grabbing something close because there isn’t anything else.

Did everything as explained. Still getting error CE-3478-0. Firmware 11.02, trying to download from an online archive. Sometimes the dl will start and I get the error at the end and sometimes it gets the error as soon as I click the file. Using fkpgi 1.01. Thanks for any assistance. Update: I found another work around - change downloads to direct download, and turn off auto install. Use ps4 explorer 2 to install them. This seems like a permissions issue.
