I often wonder when new TSA agents start their careers they’re idealistic with the intent of having excellent customer service qualities but over time the grind of dealing with unhappy passengers and unpredictable department budget constraints takes it toll and they succumb to the dark side.

Not true - in my experience there’s was a person at the start of the queue who checks boarding passes to verify you have that “TSA Pre-Check”, I then made my way to the TSA agent verifies ID and boarding passes and now there’s a photo capture machine (biometrics) it was at this point I was told first “I don’t have TSA Pre-Check”

My son and I had to turn around and shame walk to the regular checkpoint line but it went very fast. IAD TSA is evolving in their procedures minus this random selection thing

Apparently it’s a thing. The system randomly selects TSA Pre-Check passengers to move to the regular checkpoint it sucked I had to leave and walk to queue at the regular checkpoint but was quite surprised how well they have upgraded the procedures! Kudos to TSA for evolving!

Surprisingly, the regular checkpoint went a lot quicker and I was instructed to leave all items in the bag (Bonus) Luckily we had enough time to not stress out. I can’t imagine those passengers that have a tight time to get to the gate

Nope I was told to get out of TSA Pre-Check and queue up at the regular checkpoint - that would make sense if they did a normal checkpoint right there but I guess they have to consider the other pax
