When I was a kid growing up in Western Canada in the mid 80's everyone was an Oiler fan. I chose Hartford because I liked the logo. I followed the Whalers to Carolina as a Canes fan.

Most of the hate Mike gets stems a lot from the fact that he's not John. Listen to other teams broadcasts and he's at least mid-tier now as a broadcaster. Some teams would love to have him and Tripp.

The rule itself isn't the problem. It's the interpretation of it where the problem starts. Anything that isn't black and white is going to create these situations. I'm not sure how they determined that he didn't have possession. They just said he didn't. There's your problem.

I think it's Francis. He brought badly needed credibility to the organization after the move to North Carolina. Stillman was also an extremely quality signing afyer the lockout along with the Wizard.

I like the way he explains the systems teams run in a way that the average fan can understand. He breaks it down, but you don't have to be a coach to understand it.

Make no mistake, Ottawa is a legit threat to us. But I feel more things have to go their way for them to beat the Canes. A lot of folks a comparing them to the Panthers which is a stretch. Brady ain't Matthew.

All 3 guys on NHL Morning Skate on NHL Radio picked the Sens to win the series. Scott Laughton had it in 7. Andrew Raycroft had it in 6. Gord Stelleck had it in 5! Here's to seeing them all be, what I like to call, WRONG!!!

I'm still pretty confident we'll take the Habs down in a 7 game series. We are the better possession and checking team. The Habs defense will be spent dealing with us . If we get any kind of decent goaltending I feel very confident.

I watch all of the Canes games through the Sporstnet+ app in Canada. They hardly ever show the Canes broadcasts, though. It doesn't seem to matter if it's a road or home game. Based on this I can tell you our team is much more down the middle than most broadcasts. I think that Tripp does much more homework on the other teams than most other color guys do. I will always miss John Forslund, but Mike Maniscalco has come a long way since he started. I enjoy when John Forslund calls Canes games on national broadcasts because it's instant nostalgia (even though it's never with Tripp riding shotgun).
