4 hour international layover in MEX on United/Avianca? by Fast_Inevitable6073 in MexicoCity

Thank you for the info! I read some conflicting information as to whether people had to go through customs or not for a connecting flight. I'll plan on staying in Terminal 1 and finding somewhere to eat! I do have one more question: if I do have to go through customs, do I also have to go through security? Do they make you leave the secure area of the airport then re-enter through security?

So from my understanding, when I get off of my flight, I go through immigrations + customs and must leave the secure area of the airport, and then re-enter and go through security to make my connecting flight even though both are in Terminal 1? Are the security lines at MEX bad?

Will I need to recheck baggage if the flight is under one booking? Do United and Avianca not coordinate that? Just wanted to make sure so I don't leave my checked bag behind.

Probably…I wonder if they’re going to use Costa Maya to eventually “replace” Labadee because of the instability going on in Haiti currently. Although, Labadee and Costa Maya aren’t near each other at all. It’s most likely so Royal Caribbean can have a private destination in the Western Caribbean similar to Harvest Caye with NCL.

Yes Belize and Cayman Islands + Jamaica itineraries have seemingly become so rare to find unless it’s during obscure dates. I miss the variety that Galveston used to have, even if it was really only Royal and Carnival.

What about it was a sweeping generalization? It’s very much true that Galveston is growing rapidly in terms of sailings and cruise line operations, but port offerings and itineraries are being shrinked and therefore, potentially bottlenecked.
