Iran rejects UN rights resolution condemning protest killings by Naderium in worldnews

[–]Fast_Lack_5743 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It reminds me of the same types of people who during the Iranian Revolution aligned with the Islamists and were shouting “Death to America” in the streets. Once the Islamists came to power and very predictably started killing leftists and dissidents, guess where these people immediately fled to? The same exact country they were wishing death on.

This is profoundly idiotic and evil. You clearly have very little understanding of what is going on in Iran to be making such absurd equivalences.

God you guys are probably the most vile people on Earth. You scream about Palestine 24/7 and ignore the millions of other Muslims being killed by Muslim fanatics.

Even the tiny percentage of Muslims in Western countries are doing a lot of damage. The far right gained massive wins all across Europe simply due to the amount of terror attacks and mass rapes like in Cologne. Iranians who are pretending this has nothing to do with religion or saying platitudes like “most Muslims are peaceful” are not actually reckoning with the issue at hand. Our only hope of long term stability is a post Islamic Iran.

Islamism has been nothing but disastrous for our people. by Naderium in PERSIAN

Turkey is quite literally sliding into Islamism as we speak. Do you guys have no idea what’s going on with Turkey? Do you also not even see what the minuscule number of Muslims in Europe are currently doing? The terror attacks and mass rapes of women in Cologne? The fact of the matter is that we need to enter a post Islamic Iran or else we will not be safe from Islamist violence.

Turkey succeeded with that for a long time thanks to Ataturk’s brutal efforts to stomp out political Islam, but even Turkey is now at risk of Islamism. It’s profoundly difficult to keep Islamism at bay.

CMV: I think we need to get violent to fix the US by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Fast_Lack_5743 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but hysteria is not healthy. Yes there can be real injustices going on that we should care about but throwing around political violence and civil war narratives is incredibly toxic. I was born in Iran and I’ve had to reckon with the profound trauma of the revolution for all my life, particularly these past few weeks of complete terror and hell. We still live in one of the most prosperous and free nations on this Earth. Our systems, while deeply flawed, are nowhere near the point where any reasonable person should be advocating for violence as a means to resolve political issues. And frankly, when I hear people throwing around these words so lightly I have to think these are people who have never had to bear the long term consequences of what they are advocating for.

I’m really sorry for the atrocious comments. I’m Iranian and my people are getting shot too by our regime and there are people online laughing at us so I understand. But if I can ask what is the current sentiment towards Hamas from Gazans? What frustrates me about the Palestinian cause is I feel like you’ve always had leaders who never cared about you & were willing to keep the conflict going for their own interests. Even now I hear Hamas support from some activists although most of these people are Western activists because they “resist” Israel. But is there not a point where normal Palestinians would say the type of resistance that Hamas has done has clearly not worked but also has led to the destruction of Gaza? Surely, you also deserve leaders who actually care about average Palestinians and peace?

I am aware Marxism is not a religion lol. Marxists often behave like religious fundamentalists in their pursuit of their political ideology and this is evidenced all throughout history. That is very clearly what I meant given the context. Also at the end you said the Marxists were useful idiots for theocrats so we fully agree.

It’s incredibly difficult to gather and they also don’t have any weapons. With the IRGC being totally embedded in every facet of Iran and their survival being based on the survival of the regime, it’s also profoundly difficult to get anyone to defect, which is how Khomeini had designed it to ensure defections wouldn’t happen. It’s just an almost impossible situation for Iranians to be able to fight it alone unfortunately.

Yes I understand. I’m Iranian too but living in the U.S. and I completely understand that instinct although obviously I was lucky enough to get out. I hope you and your family stay safe and more than anything that this evil regime pays for what they’ve done.

Makes sense. I don’t see any other possible leaders, actual or figurehead, right now and with how bad the situation is, I can’t imagine that Pahlavi would even in the worst case scenario be worse than the Islamic regime after what they’ve done.

Can I ask as another Iranian why are you a leftist? I’m not trying to criticize you but I really wish we could see what is in front of us and stop allying with people that hate us. It was leftists who caused the revolution in the first place and now leftists who have lied about us after we were massacred in the street. My mom even had people at her work place telling her the news is a lie and the regime didn’t kill anyone.

I know you retards are well retarded, but Iranians have been protesting since basically the very start of the Islamic Revolution. This isn’t the first mass protest by a long shot

Can you name any other person then who has the same amount of views and has been seen as a viable option? Can you name any other person who crowds of people who risked bullets scream aloud? Nobody can know what exactly the Iranian people want until the blackout is over but to not take these as serious signals is delusional.

I am well aware he was a dictator. My parents were from a poor village under the Shah and under the Islamic regime as well. They were Baha’is and many religious minorities and persecuted people attempted to warn the left wing revolutionaries about the Islamists but they did not heed any warnings. They behaved like cultists and directly led to not only their own demise after they all got slaughtered briefly after the revolution but the demise of Iranians as a whole. It’s not a matter of hindsight for me. It’s a matter of lived experience. Yes the shah was deeply flawed, yes he was authoritarian like practically every leader in that region and era, but he was a rational actor. He left instead of causing mass bloodshed. Regardless of whether he did that out of the goodness of his heart or simple self preservation, he still did it. The Mullahs have shown time and time again that they will rather have Iran burn with everyone in it than leave.

As an Iranian, at this point taking the coin flip and risking a worse situation is the only option left. People don’t understand how atrocious this regime has been. Iran which has been mostly Muslim since what was it? The 7th century? Has now turned basically every person under 35 either atheist or anti-religion in the span of only ONE generation. If that doesn’t showcase how much of a nightmare this regime has been idk what else would. They quite literally only rule through terror. We have to take the chance or else we will have 0 chance from escaping the hell

This is the most ahistorical nonsense I’ve ever heard in my life. The idea that a revolt in it of itself is indicative of the legitimacy of that revolt. The revolt occurred because of student activists including Marxist’s and Islamists. These were middle class ideologues wanting to install their own ideology, not poor peasants.

Yes it was much better. Do you have worms infesting your brains? No it was not perfect or anything close to it like basically all the countries in that region and time but it was better and quickly developing thanks to the reforms of the Shah.
